Client won't login in when running in Parallel

I have an older PC and bought a new Mac (yes moving to the darkside) and installed parallels in order to run Windows only games like Grim Dawn.
I am able to login via the broswer to Steam, but when I try to log into the client I get an incorrect password message. I've reset my pwd about a dozen times, gone through the help on ports to check, and software that might stop it etc. all with no joy.
Any suggestions?

There is a keyboard issue currently but I'm not sure if this is also at the login screen. Try to enter your password for example in Notes, copy your password from there and past it into the logon screen.
