“steam_osx” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.
Hello,
I am trying to install Steam but there is an error.
the error is:
“steam_osx” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.
I tried anything but it doesn't work.

Same issue faced, once you get that message, click move it to trash and then try to open steam again. It ll automatically update the application and then it ll run

I have the same issue and have tried everything .. fully deleting from library, rebooting machine, reinstalling, etc. I did as you suggested, clicked 'move to trash' but it didn't delete from applications, and tried again but keep getting the same 'steam_osx is damaged' message.

I also have tried everything without avail, have you figured anything out?

I just downloaded and tried all of the above. Nothing works. Anyone else been able to resolve this issue? I have the latest Mac OS (Big Sur).

Fixed. I deleted all prior steam applications. When re-installing, rather than pulling the application to the applications folder, I opened the applications folder first. I then pulled the application to the open folder and double clicked the application, I clicked "move to trash" when prompted. I then again double clicked the icon in the applications folder and it started no problem.

Worked like a charm, thanks a lot!
