Blackmagic eGPU support for Steam Games using MacBook Pro 13 Internal Display

I am trying to use an external Blackmagic eGPU to drive a higher quality resolution on a MacBook Pro 13 (2018) when playing games via the Steam app. So far, I have tried CS:GO and Tomb Raider and both use the internal Iris 655 graphics. I have tried the "prefer eGPU" option via Finder with no success and don't see any other obvious options. Any help out there?
