2011 Macbook Pro
Can I still play cs 1.6 and dota 2 through steam? Or has Steam just become another EA battlefront 2 scam?

Don't know about CS1.6, but you can play Dota 2 for sure.

I'm just wondering if Steam won't work for mac os 10.10 at all in 40 days.

Maybe, maybe not. It will not be supported though. So if issues occur, Valve will not fix them.

You could install macOS 10.11 El Capitan, it's supported on Macbook Pro Mid 2007 or newer. Or the most recent that the Macbook 2011 supports is 10.13 High Sierra.
