Steam not connecting to Store, Community or Profile
This problem only persists on my computer ( Mac OS X version 10.8.5).
I can log into steam easily on my iPhone, but its considerably more inconvenient. I can even log in to steam using google chrome, it just doesn’t work for steam itself (meaning the application ‘steam’ cannot access the steam website). A possible fix to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Unless your computer does not meet the minimum hardware requirements I would recommend that you Reset your PRAM and try again.

Terribly sorry for not replying at an earlier notice, i was caught up with a few things.
Unfortunately the PRAM reset hasn't worked, and my system does reach the minimum requirements. I do appreciate the help though :)
I do want to point out that my library on the steam application works perfectly fine, so it may suggest an issue with it connecting to the steam website (and yes i have tried to clear the web browser cache). A possible fix will once again be greatly appreciated.

Having the exact same problem, have been dealing with it for about a month now.
Using a 2010 imac, running OSX 10.8.5.
Really getting on my nerves now the UI doesnt let you have friends list or chat open.

Suffering from the same issue also, and I know others are too. I have needed to log in through a web browser just to reply to your post.

It seems like anything to do with the community, market, profile etc... has stopped working since the update. The steam app is asking me to sign in, even though i am signed in, and when i try I am faced with an error.

This update has pretty much rendered the Steam app useless.

Hope this gets addressed soon.

FYI: I am on a 27" iMac running OSX10.9.5

I'm having the same problem ever since the update.

I have a MacBook Pro OS X 10.9.5
I have the same problem as well, as well as my steam app refusing to load any pages other than the library one and the (previous) friends list.

Ive bought Mac few days ago, setup Steam (OSX 10.7.5) and see the same things, like all guys there.
What to do ? Looks like Steam browser cant connect to the internet, because Steam has logged to my acc, but community and store doesn't loading...

I submitted a support ticket and here is the response from Steam support:

---- START-----

Hello,

It sounds like you’re having network problems.

Network problems can be caused by a variety of things, so please go through our Troubleshooting Network Connectivity article for probable fixes even if it seems like your network is functioning correctly.

We also recommend visiting our Required Ports for Steam article to ensure the required ports for Steam are open. Additionally, our diagnosing and reporting network problems article has information that will help you self-solve different network problems you may be experiencing.

Steam Support is not really the best source for help with in-depth network troubleshooting. Many issues require someone to actually look at your machine or test your network and internet connection under a variety of circumstances, both of which we can't do here.

If you can’t solve the problem with the information in the above articles, the best way to proceed is to try to determine if the problem is with your computer or network, and then talk to a local computer diagnosis/repair shop or your internet service provider respectively.

---- END ----

Looks like a stock answer, I have replied and hope they dig into it further.

@Festive Winter aaaaa,

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
I just tried the solution in the video and so far, so good, its all working as it should.

Thanks for this :) I hope it works for others also.

EDIT:
I spoke to soon, although most things are working, there are a few things missing:

Icons alongside the games in Library do not show.
When you click on a game and you do not see any news items and any DLC that you have previously bought do not have there graphic.

Its small things but still woudl like to have them. Maybe the next time there is a update they will return. Unless you have a fix for this also?

I don't know why the later versions of Safari, such as the one on OS X 10.11.6 automatically trust certificates on domains they aren't issued for, but I guess that's just apple making things less secure lol.

You can manually download the certificate and add it to your keychain still, to fix the steam client issue. If you need help with that I suppose I could make a video showing how to do it.

What cerficiate would that be? I've tried a couple, but I couldn't find the one that gets Steam to be displayed in it's full and proper glory, since it's just a white screen with blue text at the moment.

Click on Show Certificate in the Safari dialog about the https auth, and then manually trust it like I've shown in the video. Once you do that, it'll add the certificate in your login.keychain and you can manually trust the other protocols.

Bro, i understand how to add certificate, but its not a problem)
Problem is - site, https://store.steampowered.com/?l=russian and any other pages of steam sites doesn't open in my Safari 6.X.X, because he tells me that - "Safari cant make a security connection with the site", ive google it and internet tells, that my Safari version is too old for this site, and i need to update Safari, but this version is last for my OSX 10.7.5, and i dont know what to do :(
Ive bought newer motheboard for my Mac and will upgrade in 2 week, and the last OSX for new motherboard will be 10.11, i think this will solve my problem :D
But thank you for the video answer, great job man, greatings from Russia, sorry my bad English ! :)
