Not Enough Disc Space?
So whenever I try to download a game, the pop up window that shows up before the game downloads shows that I have 0 MB free on my SSD, and then proceeds to say I can not download the game until I free up some more space. I have 10 GB free on my SSD, and the game I want to download only requires a little over 1 GB. Even games less than a gigabyte still get this error.

I have not had a problem with this before, but I started deleting games off my SSD, and when I delete one, I can not reinstall it because Steam just says I don't have enough space to do so. I have tried freeing up space, but my SSD is not very large, and I can't free up more than 15 or so gigabytes. I think that should be fine though for installing such a small game.

I am not able to buy a new SSD, and I have an external hard drive too but I have issues with that which I don't want to discuss right now. I would just like to know how I can get rid of this "not enough disc space" error. Thank you!

Sounds like you are running 10.13 with an APFS formatted SSD. Have you tried to create an Steam game folder on your external HDD? That might solve your problem.

Or, to free up disk space, go to library (Command + Shift + G, ~/Library), then Application Support > Steam > steamapps > common > Delete all games you dont play. Those are the files that take up the most space.

As I said, the external HDD will not work. I need to get it to work on the internal SSD.

I have deleted the games I don't play, but I don't think it's a space issue. I have 11 GB free, and the game requires less than 2 gigabytes.

What OS are you running & how is your SSD formatted (APFS or HFS+)?

It seems to me that it should run ok then. Have you asked the same question about this disk space issue on the Apple Forums? If you do, you should get some very quick help.

Ok I have something similar - I have 111 Gig of space on my HD, I'm trying to download a game that requires 40 Gig, but Steam says I only have 25 Gig available.

all other system check i've done, looked at the info for the drive etc confirms I have the 111 Gig.

So what gives?
