In any case, the thing you should worry about isn't Steam, as Valve will almost certainly do a 64-bit version of the Steam client if they have to. The bigger issue is older 32-bit only games which may not ever get 64-bit updates.
Guess they'll be getting a flood of bug reports until they release a 64-bit version.
I respectfully disagree with this opinion. It is Apple's job to move technologies and features forward. If you have legacy software to run, it is no big deal, just partition out either an older version of macOS or Windows to run those apps and games. Your main partition and OS should always be the latest version of macOS. This way not only are you the most secure, but developers will know they need to be quick in updating their software since people will move forward with or without them.
