Problem with Steam on Mac
I used to use a Windows PC when I play games on Steam. And recently, that computer no longer works so I switched over to a hand-me down MacBookPro. After downloading Steam and opening it, it goes to the "Updating Steam... Checking for available updates" bar. And it stays on there for such a long time, and later it will close itself and there would be a pop-up message saying "Steam needs to be online to update. Please confirm your network connection and try again." I'm very confused as to how to fix this because I'm clearly connected to a fast network, one that works with Steam over at my Windows PC.

Steam always still does the updating thing every time I open it, but when it was closing after updating I had to go to my system preferences > security and privacy > accessibility > tick Steam to allow it to 'control my computer'. Hope that works for you, sorry if it doesn't
