Xbox one controller recognized as 2 controllers by steam. Causing double inputs.
Anybody else seeing this and/or have an idea how to resolve this?

thank you

ISSUE
Steam is double recognizing Xbox One Controller as two separate devices. So controller input is then counting twice. In games and big picture mode.

OS
macOS 10.14.6 (18G87)

360Controller 1.0.0-alpha.3 (tried with and without installed)

build: Aug 5 2019, 18:06:09
steam api: v019
package: 1565057304

xbox one controller w/bluetooth (black)
-or-
xbox one controller w/bluetooth (white)

STEPS
1. Connect 1 controller via BT to macOS
2. Launch Steam
3. See notification twice
Xbox One Controller
Using configs from brs165
4. Launch big picture
5. move in any direction
6. Notice it is a double move
7. Open controller settings
8. see Xbox One Controller listed twice
9. when using usb and identify (its the same single controller)
- 1st controller listed vibrates left side
- 2nd controller listed vibrates right side

notes
- I've tried this via BT and USB with same results.
- I've tried selecting/unselecting Xbox Configuration Support and restarting steam
- When using usb 360Controller only recognizes 1 controller, steam sees 2

RESULT
All input is double counted and/or looped in a direction in games.

EXCEPTED
Should recognize only one controller

RESOLUTION/FIX
Do not turn controller on until after steam is up and running. The classic "turn it off and on" fix works too. When I see a double controller count in Steam, I turn the controller off/on, and then steam will see just the single controller.

I now can have an Xbox One Controller paired via Bluetooth and everything appears to work correctly. Tested with Shovel Knight, Streets of Rogue, and Rogue Legacy. I have also been able to use 2 Xbox One Controllers via bluetooth to play games.

single controller identified (works)
1. start steam
2. turn controller on
3. connect via bluetooth

(wrong)double controller identified
1. turn controller on
2. connect via bluetooth
3. start steam

Now my only fear is all the 32bit binary games that won't be working after Mojave is released.

The August 9, 2019 steam build seems to have fixed this.

Agreed I was goin crazy until latest Aug 9 client build, Im still running 16.5 because of wireless connect via usb. i was getting multible configs popping up like crazy in big pic mode and small mode......now issue gone:bandit:
For me, the way i fixed this is by disabling HID-compliant consumer control device through the control panel

yo
I found a solution. Scroll down to the bottom of controller settings and download advanced xbox drivers and also turn on recodnize Xbox inputs so it isn’t detected as a generic controller
