Steam won't open after update to catalina 10.15
2012 macbook pro. I've deleted and redownloaded the steam client about 5 times now and every time it downloads fine. I installed it unto my applications and when I right click it to start, it pops the icon on the bottom of my screen bounces like it wants to open then doesn't. No message appears saying it can't open. I've tried double clicking to open but it also bounces then doesn't open. I have no error message so I don't know whats wrong and this is the first time my laptop as down this. I've noticed that in my finder it says "date modified - Sept 6 2019." don't know if my steam is just out of date or if catalina ruined steam.:steamfacepalm:

Edit, I followed the appleinsider route and it worked

Quick thing here: I just got a new MacBook Pro, with Catalina installed in-box. Unfortunately I tried installing Steam, and it said it couldn't be opened because the disk mounter got damaged.

Luckily I found this discussion and it really helps. Now I can play Stardew on my MacBook again! If anyone still has trouble opening the Steam app I recommend you guys try what this link said! https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/09/03/how-to-update-your-steam-install-to-64-bit-before-macos-catalina

Hey, can you tell us how did they help you?

Even though I downloaded the client from the official Steam webpage, it is not opening after installing. The icon just bounces once and after that I have no response.

I know that there was the problem with Steam client after macOS Catalina 10.15 was released, but I think that I have downloaded the 64bit version of the client.

I am running macOS Catalina version 10.15.3 on MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2017

This doesn't work for me :(
How can I contact steam for support ?

Steam Support doesn't answer at all (sent the letter around 12 hours ago). Can't run CS:GO - VAC kicks me off (and I have no VAC at all). All Apple Users got the same problem.
