Dualshock 4 connection issues

Okay, so I've had this DS4 for a few days now and here's whats wrong: when i connect it with USB (before I open steam), It works flawlessly; I can move the cursor, navigate big picture mode, and use custom controls for games like Portal, HL2, and Super Hexagon. HOWEVER, when I connect it usb or bluetooth after launching steam, I have no control of the cursor and can't navigate big picture mode. It will still work with some games though, like super meat boy, grim fandango, and goat simulator, but not with the games I made custom controls for. Lastly, when I connect to bluetooth before launching steam, the custom light will come on, big picture mode will detect it and...that's it. The controls don't work at all in big picture mode or any games, even though big picture mode says it's detected; It doesn't even work in the games that it works with if I connect it after launching.

So that's it, I'm totally stumped on this. If anyone can help me fix the bluetooth (before launch) connection, I'd really appreciate it.

Same problem, my DS4 works over bluetooth only if PS4 Support in Controller Settings is disabled (same as connecting after launching Steam

Okay WTF. I tried turning off PS4 support to see if it would work wirelessly, but now it won't even connect to the mac. For some reason though, it will connect to my android!? I try resetting but nope, still want's to connect to my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ phone. I'm about to lose my ♥♥♥♥ and throw this controller at a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wall.

Home button + share button connect to bluetooth -) enter big picture mode and start playing some games that do work with the controller.

I know, that used to work, but now the controller won't connect to my macbook. I think there's something wrong with my computer :(

it somehow prompted me to install a controller driver and now it works perfectly.

I tested it on my friends macbook and the prompt appeared on there, but when I do it on here nothing happens. I also fixed the bluetooth connection on my mac by using bluetooth explorer and getting the request from the device to connect, but the issue w/ bluetooth after launch still remains. Here's[imgur.com] the steam controller config for that, which I can't assign anything to.

Same problem. I also have the DS4 USB dongle. when I enable PS4 configuration support after reconnect controller. the controller doesn't work. If I uncheck it and reconnect the controller the controller works but only the buttons, no vibration of any other DS4 feature. (which should work with PS4 configuration support)

Same problem as you :(. On USB and after connecting before launching Steam, could you confirm that vibration and/or touch surface and/or headset jack is supported in the games you mentionned (portal, HL2)?

It is on Rocket League. I tested on windows and here it works. When I enable PS4 support and reconnect controller a popup appears on windows to setup your PS4 controller. So it is a MAC problem. I hope there will be a bug reported for this

In Portal/HL2, the touch surface works but the vibration and headset don't. Also, my custom configuration for the games doesn't seem to work, but I'm guessing this is because of the steam overlay issue (shift+tab doesn't work in these games).

mine worked fine last week, full bluetooth support, even had the rgb lights set up specifically so I'd know they were connected right. Moved my usb dongle over 1 port and screwed everything up. I've even moved it back, rebooted, tried reconnecting in all of the ways, basically can't use these controllers anymore and idfk why
