Would it be possible to purchase destiny 2 and play it on my Mac OS X/new Mac desktop?

Bootcamp it or something. That game is not getting a MAC port.

Remember that your Mac must meet the minimum PC game requirements even if you try to play it using Bootcamp under whichever Windows version you have.
