Phantom Xbox 360 controllers showing up and messing up game input
I'm using a natively supported bluetooth Xbox One controller on macOS.

In addition to that controller a ton of Xbox 360 controllers show up (there are no actual physical controllers connected to the computer aside from the one bluetooth Xbox One controller).

Here's a screenshot:

Any tips on debugging this?

Hello,

I got the exact same problem! (see http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/2/1489992713699598204/)

Is it a new issue or not ? (ie: are you used your controller before without issue on Steam)
My point is : is an Steam update break the Xbox One Controller compatibility ?

Thanks!

seems like the exact same problem, I had the same issue you did where when I quit steam a button was held down too.

and yes, at one point I was able to use the controller succssfully, but no longer.
I deleted my "~/Library/Application Support/Steam" directory and the phantom controllers went away. Controller support within games seems really hit-or-miss on macOS though. Works flawlessly in a couple of games and is super janky in most others.

Well.. it made the duplicate controllers go away but they just came back a minute later :/

Ditto for me w/ wired Xbox 360 controller on OS X 10.9.5. It just stopped working after the last controller-centric Steam update. It's almost as if my controller is now being read as constantly spamming <A>.

My multiple controller duplicates did come back eventually, I gave up on using Bluetooth. The support is just not there. Went back to 360Controller + wired + making sure the controller can't connect as Bluetooth lets me play games at least. Had to reinstall steam again to remove the duplicates.

How do we get Valve to notice that we're all having this problem?

I really don't know. That's why I post here too: asking for support on Steam redirect me here!

I haven't found any way to create a new issue in a bug tracker for example :steamfacepalm:

Hmm, just got a Steam update with a TON of controller-related changes/fixes. Too scared to try Bluetooth again but maybe worth a go?

I went ahead and tried it--no improvement. Going back to wired-only. :/

Thanks for the bug report and especially for including the log @Constable Plarnax. We're looking into this now.
