How can I play PC games on my Mac?
I have read on other posts that it is possible to play PC games on a Mac computer using different plug-ins or applications, and I was just wondering how to do that. I bought Sid Meier's Civilization III, not knowing it was for PC only. I am using macOS Sierra. If you could tell me what to do step-by-step, I would really appreciate it!

Try play on mac, its a front end for wine, so it does it all for you.

Ive only tried it with steam but it works great for games althought the community features wont load in the steam client.
Steam market, activity feed, forums etc. However chat works fime and have played at least 60 different games with it so far with only a couple of minor graphical glitches.

Download and install the. dmg then select steam as the program use wish to use amd let it do its thing.
Then you can install the games from within the playonmac steam:goldenmilkminer:

Just a heads up, when you open the playonmac steam, it will look like it is doing nothing but just wait about a minute or so as it seems to take a minute for the steam login to appear on screen.
Give it go and DONT BOOTCAMP WINDOWS, you will have all the security and windows spyware issues that come along with it.

I did all this and it was working fine, but at the very end, it said there was an error called POL_shortcut as I was finishing installing Steam. Do you know what that's all about?

From google :

Did you install steam into it's default location through play on mac?
Apparently steam and play on mac need to be installed into their default locations, not into any other directories.

Also I have found that if i try to run steam from the icon that play on mac sets on the desktop it stops working sometimes, so open play on mac and start steam from there.

So here's what I do:

Open PlayOnMac
Click Install a program
Search for Steam and click the icon and click install
I go through the prompts and I install the Microsoft fonts (twice) like it prompts me to do
Then Steam Setup appears and I follow the prompts
I let it install in the default folder it gives me and click Install
It says I can now run Steam and so I click Finish
This is when the popup appears on my PlayOnMac window that says:

Error in main
Steam crashed
Select its shortcut and click on "Debug" in the side panel to get more details

No matter what, there is always some sort of error.
So I hit Next and it actually allows me to open Steam and I can install my Civ game
So I wait ten minutes or so for it to install but when I click on it, it'll start playing the opening sequence, but as soon as I try to click on anything, it bugs out, minimizes into the upper lefthand corner of the screen, and goes completely white. What's weird is that I can still hear the music playing and if I manage to click in the right spot, I'll hear the game interacting with me, I just can't see it for the life of me. And now I have that much less memory on my computer and I don't know what to do! It doesn't seem to be working still and I don't know what stage of the process I'm getting messed up on. I just know it has something to do with that error.

Do I need to have some special version of Wine or something? I just don't know.

I can't find where to window it, but you've been so helpful. I'll keep trying to play around with it and hope it works. Thanks so much for all your help!

I installed PlayonMac on my iMac without any issues, also the download of the add-ons worked fine. I then installed Steam within PlayOnMac, but when I try to install a PC only game, it tells me that the game is not supported on my platform.

What game did you try?

Why are you suggesting PlayOnMac when its already riddled with issues at its current state?
You want to try Poring Kit from the Porting Team. It's a Google search away, and its even simpler and more user friendly than PlayOnMac
