How to fix Universal Access Steam Overlay 2017

For many mac players, you may get the message, before launching a game, to allow accessibility for steam in your system preferences. Many of you will try this and will still get the error message even if steam is checked in your accessibility page. STEAM OVERLAY CANNOT WORK IF YOU DON'T HAVE MAC OS SIERRA INSTALLED (10.12.5 and above works). To install Sierra, click the apple icon near the top left corner of your screen, click on "About this Mac", go to overview and click on "Software Update..." This will put you in the App Store and should give you the option to upgrade to Sierra. Additionally, you can access the App Store and search for Sierra in the search bar. REMEMBER, you must have at least 5 GB of storage left on your commuter to install. After installing, open steam up and open a game to check your overlay. Everything should be functional, like typing. Have fun with overlay :D

The Universal Access issue has been a thing for a long time, and now it has broken backwards compatibility for OSX .

Yes, the universal access issue has been around for a long time, in the past it was easy to fix just by rechecking your steam icon in system preferences. I'm going to disagree with you on the fact that its not a fix. Its the only thing we have to getting around this problem. Is valve lazy with their product? Yes. They forget to state anything about this problem on the forums or on their mac steam support page. If valve keeps continuing this, they can lose their profits for mac users, as the only common and useful way to make in-game transactions for their games is through steam overlay. You could say that users have the ability to go to the game's websites to make such transactions, but fewer people know about this and its not reliable. After awhile, it kinda gets annoying how you have to tab in and out of your game to search up something on google or to talk to friends using steam
