How to fully delete Steam from Mac?

I know that I'm supposed to delete the application, but what I don't get is when I re-install Steam the program automatically logs me in. How does it remember who I am if it was completely uninstalled? I'm actually trying to start Steam from scratch without resetting my laptop because my Don't Starve Together game won't create shortcuts in Launchpad and the Application folder. I know people have been having issues with this in other games, but this is the first time this has happened to me with this game. DST seemed to make shortcuts fine previously and in my other Apple products.

Just go to applications and right click the steam icon and delete. If I am not mistaken it will give the option to also delete steam related files such as games. I have had the same issue with creating icons for tf2 and csgo but Ive tried the same and it has not worked so that might save you some time.
