PS4 Controller on MAC (Bluetooth)
Hello everyone, i'm trying to get my steam controller connected to my mac, and I have done this and connected it via bluetooth. I started up steam big picture, and checked if the controller was recognized and it was, I can change the color, make it vibrate, etc, etc. How ever I cannot actually use the controller in steam big picture or any game (like rocket league) I was curious if anyone else had this problem or if i'm doing something wrong, thank you!

PS4 controller support has been broken for a few weeks. Hopefully its fixed in an update soon. If you turn PS4 controller support off and remove the SteamInput extensions from /Library/Extensions and /System/Library/Extensions and reboot, it may work basically.

Its broken, but when you turn off the PS4-Assistant in Big Picture (Settings/Controller...) then it will work again as a DS4 Controller. Sadly only in supported games & Big Picture, but it works as usual, also for streaming...

For me no need to remove the extension...

This seems to still be broken, but only when using the controller wirelessly. It works as expected when plugged in via USB cable.

It still appears to be broken - I spent an afternoon yesterday trying to get the ps4 controller to function via bluetooth. I first followed these instructions http://www.macworld.co.uk/feature/mac/how-use-ps4-or-xbox-one-controller-on-mac-dualshock-4-xb1-on-macos-3626259/

and then when it didn't work, I followed these: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6683094?start=0&tstart=0

and then I arrived here at this forum to find out the real problem - the controller support is currently broken. I know that I had gotten it to work last year on a macbook pro mid 2012 model, that being the spring of 2016, but the bluetooth lag slowed the controller's responsiveness so much that I couldn't play very well with it. I'm now on a macbook pro 2017 model.

I haven't tried removing the PS4 controller extension from my library folder. Did anyone else find success with this? If so, what functions are you losing? The force feedback? Do all the buttons work?

I have also experienced this problem since this January.
In Mac Steam, it does not work as DS4 (XInput?) In case of Bluetooth connection.

I think that what AGC Omega - SAN says is the same as this screen.

I'm sorry for the screenshot of Japanese :-)

I bought a DS 4 because I like wireless connection,
Since "Full controller support" compatible games can only be played on a USB connection,
I am still inconvenienced. This problem is embarrassing.

Having the same issue, DS4 works in steam menu in Big Picture mode, but its completely unresponsive in any game i've tried so far.

Just go to Big Picture, Settings and disable the PS4 support it should then work in almost any game with controller support. If not tell what game you are using, maybe we can help you telling if it does or doesn't work.

I use a PS4 controller now succefully for 2/3 years without any problems on most games. Only thing I need to disable the PS support, if I enable it doesn't work anylonger in any game.

Disabled PS4 support, still no luck. 3 games i've tried, "Move or Die" works when using USB connection, "This War Of Mine" and "Lovers in a dangerous spacetime" dont work at all.

I don't have any experience with those games, did you check any settings in game or gamelauncher to activate your controller?

So far I never use the PS4 controller wired, so far a brief overiew for bluetooth: Dirt (any racegame works fine), The Binding of Isaac, Stardew Valley, Rocket Leage, Battle Block Theater, Starbreak (I belive a free game), Brawlhalla (free), Super Meat Boy, Roge Legacy, nuclear throne.

It's a long time ago but I believe I only whent to preferences on mac, and add a blue thooth device, pressed the PS button for a little while and it apeared and selected it to join. (I might be very wrong with this, but it was very very simple). The only thing I can very very much confirm, PS4 support enabled breaks things, lieave it off!!

Next to this I use the Steam Controller, I prefer the PS4 controller mostly. But the Steam controller is very very nice with games that don't have controller support as you can emulate keyboard and mouse. Games like City Skyline with only keyboard and mouse support I can play from the couch very nicely.
