Thank you guys for your input though and i do respect your personal opinions on LAPtop use.
You shouldn't ever fall asleep with anything that has a battery running. Batteries heat up and if they fail can do quite a bit of damage. Theres a reason why they say to have them on a hard surface and not on your chest etc. And having it on a hard surface even if it heats up its unlikely to reach the combustion point of most materials.
anyhow if its under warranty or you think its a possible fault of the hardware contact apple. Steam isn't at fault nor are game developers if your PC,MAC etc burns up.
Get SMC Fan for Mac , You can set your fan to go crazy so it doesn't get as hot.
If you want to try this again after or if you resolve this, 1 don't fall asleep obviously, set an alarm or something and 2 go get a laptop designed for this with better hardware and vented better for airflow. A Macbook Pro is a pretty penny and very nice for what it is good at. I wouldn't risk breaking it over game playing though. Maybe reevaluate your choice/priorities like I said or get a PC laptop and a new Mac and have best of both worlds. Hopefully it is repairable though. Good luck
