Games not starting on mac

trying to start any of my games just ends with the game poping up in dock and not starting or anything and I have to shutdown the game manually by right-clicking
would appreciate any help regarding this problem because i of course want to play with my friends

If I look briefly around the Mac forum's many more people seem to have this issue recenty since the last two or three days. First thing I would try is to remove steam and download and install it again. If nothing else works I'll guess best thing to do is that you guys make a general topic about this issue and post things like:


Mac model and build year

Mac OS version

Steam Stable or Beta version



Maybe you guys have something in common like the OS version which is the reason things stoped working (I guess since last Steam update).

Try verifying your local game files by going to library>right click Csgo/game>properties>local files the click verify local content or something similar> restart steam>launch csgo/game>WAIT for 10 mins if it doesn't load, give it some time. If this doesn't work check to see if your internet connection is running smoothly, mostly importantly if steam cloud is running in sync with your local save, sometimes the long wait is because of an unresponding steam cloud, in this case go and backup your local game content or steam content in properties via library (similar process to verifying local game content) then try launching the game again *restart of steam client is also recommended. Make sure you are also running as administrator, you can check this by clicking your name on the top right (OS X el captain and above). If issue still occurs for some reason, try waiting it out for the next game or steam update and try again. If the problem still persists I recommend you contact steam support under troubleshooting of running whatever game it may be.

Theres another, bigger thread about this issue. Its a real bug and its affecting lots of people.
