Is the StarCraft 2 campaign difficult?
I know it has a huge esports thing going on but I don't really have time for that.
I've heard mixed review about it some say its epic others say its lackluster. Some help steamers?

It is not difficult if you play RTS games before nor is it difficult for new comers. It's a good game, I just wouldn't pay $60 for just one campaign. The meat of the game is in the multiplayer sadly. In my opinion, buy the first Starcraft. It comes in a bundle with the main game and expansion. It's hours and hours of gameplay and get this, people still play the classic online too.

hmm I guess the story would make more sense too if i played the first one. Thanks Sasha. So many games to get through these days lol.
It's cheap, only $20.

A majority of SCII campaign is somewhat of a weird paradox. Its difficulty depends on how thorough you actually want to be in finishing the campaign. Almost every mission in the campaign has optional side tasks that can give you extra stuff that you are allowed to use in future missions. Some of the side tasks are a pain to complete or would take a long time to figure out, but not doing them doesn’t give you that extra whatever to use for later. You can even opt out on doing entire missions altogether, or choose between doing two missions. Doing the campaign on brutal difficulty (the hardest) basically requires you to do, like…EVERYTHING there is to do or else there would be no freaking way you could advance through some missions, and even then it becomes stupidly hard. But on a normal difficulty, you can get away with not doing certain tasks (you can always go back and do them from an earlier save point) and still be decently challenged. A lot of the regular missions aren’t particularly difficult if you just complete the main task, but then you find out you have yourself a super hard end-game where you don’t have certain units and upgrades that would make certain parts A LOT easier. On the other hand, you can complete every mission doing every side task in every which way to get everything, and then the end-game can become a cakewalk if you polish your strategies. I would suggest doing the latter, although it takes time and effort, you get to actually experience the full game and not just rush through the storyline. Which is kind of the reason you buy a game anyway. And then you get a bunch of sweet achievements for going above and beyond and then you go all like YEAH I DID SOMETHING COOL! :D!
Long story short, if you put time into…not doing just the basic requirements for the campaign it gets to be super fun and awesome as well as fulfilling to complete. It still gets to be hard at parts, duh, but not as hard as not finishing earlier side tasks. Or you can just go through the main missions and have a very challenging time at the end-game. I’m not you so you can decide what you want to do.
Holy butt in hindsight I think I put way too much effort into this.

Thanks iced. I'm tempted, I want to be challenged, experience a good story and I'm a completionist so those optional tasks sound cool. You made it sound fun so now I'm rethinking things, damn you iced!! lol
It's 43% off on digital download right now....there's another reason.
*****!
If it's 43% I would go for it, although if you do story you may get lost since you havent played the first.

I guess I could do the "undesirable" thing and wiki the plot of the first game. I would never normally do such a thing if it was an rpg but I'll make an exception here.
