I know the feeling...I was never offered a chance to learn left-handed, no one explained it was possible until after I had learned the basics. It's not that bad...I will never be good at picking with my right hand, but I am more comfortable with the fretboard on my left. Essentially, I play backward...lots of great players do that.
I tried learning left handed a few times, but I'm so used to right-handed now. And this way, I can play most guitars without a problem.
I can't imagine why being left handed would effect strumming though...
Perhaps you are more ambidextrous than I. For me it would feel more comfortable (natural) to strum or pick with my left hand and my right hand on the frets. Right hand picking and strumming still feels unnatural to me. Although I have no problem with left hand on frets.
Guitar for two years, Piano for 1½...
I usually use my skills to record backingtracks for my drummingsessions, or when writing new material for my band :3
@ Everyone: I applaud you all for your dedication to music! You are truly inspirational! :D
