Gamers
Does anybody else feel like most people still view us as creepy little immature troll that lives in the basement, no social life, and only surviving off of cheetos & mountain dew? :v

But, it seems like if you tell them that you only casually game then you’re normal, or if you play sport games (which I don’t like other than racing) then it’s okay. Cause I’m 24, and the older you get the more you have to tell people this or else they will think you’re a sub human. I really don’t care what people think of me but I was just curious how people feel about that subject.

Or nobody cares, this post was pointless, and I might as well be talking to my dog who only just tells me "sh** happens" with a smirk on her face.

hmm... i have gamed for about 16 years now. gaming is very much social these days, we got our voips, chats, communities, clans and guilds...i dont have many friends, but i rather have couple good ones than many bad ones, im not lonely, i have had relationships , quite many actually, too many really :D , i like to drink lemonade yes, junk food not too much, i go to work 5 days a week, i relax by playing games, many people drink to relax, drinking is not my thing, gaming with a good friend is priceless. co-op gaming is really awesome, now playing some Borderlands 2 with my awesome buddy . so much fun.

I love my games, I am also exactly as you discribe, I am 27, and game like a loon, but here is the thing, all my faults and problems aside (far too many to list) I dont consider myself I "hardcore gamer" as the title seems to mean your a 12 year old knob, I am just a slightly odd guy who loves to play games and always has, to be honest its the first thing I bring up even to the fairer sex, still need to find a girl who loves double dragon... :) just be comfortable with yourself, if your "mates" take the mick in a spiteful way... well they are not really your mates then, if its a stranger, then who cares, you was most likely not going to get on with them anyway..

When do you cross the line of becoming a "hardcore gamer"?
I mean I don't think being a "hardcore gamer" is a bad thing.

The pharse "hardcore gamer" is only used by outsiders.
I'm fairly everyone in that crowd would call each other just gamers and thats just how it should be, because they enjoy their game and not just the game but the community it creates around them.

I've been gaming for as long as i can remember, also have good friends. But when you come across people who dont play games they seem to automatically think immature or antisocial.

sorry Blank., I must confess I was somewhat vague, I made the comment in context to naivepuppy's opening post and the casual gaming statement, as in I think that is what most people who dont play games very much see as "hardcore" gamers, maybe its a false assumption, still I was mearly trying to hammer home the point that one should not label themselves, you are you simple as that, Nativepuppy think of it this way just as my assumption in my previous post made me look ignorant, the people who are assuming the kind of person you are, then in turn pre-judging you are also ignorant in regards to your hobby, you can try to:-

A) Educate them about your hobby, who knows if they show interest you might end up introducting them to gaming, this happens more then you think. :)

B) If they are definatly not interrested, you can find something you mutually enjoy and discuss or participate in this activity, this will show them the kind of person you really are and hopefuly change there perception of gamers as a whole.

or

C) Dont worry about them, like I said before you are not obliged to get on with everybody, if the person you are speaking to really is not interested in you, well then why are they worth your time in the first place?

Maybe I am too frank.... :P

Games are awesome. If you casual game then it is just another tool to relieve stress, like a movie or listening music. I like reading and like a book, games are portals to another world (sometimes more liberated). I like games better than this world.

I guess i should say that i do have freinds (except 1) that dont play games and that are perfectly fine that i do. But it is kind of hard to try and find people around my age that do and dont veiw you as a "Hardcore" gamer.

Computer/video gaming is oh so very much what you make of it nowadays. Unfortunately, I must admit that gaming is a hidden, lonely activity for many fellows, though this isn't the case if games anywhere (steam, xbox, wii, ect..) are played socially and/or competitively.. that's how you play hard. Game onward, bros.

Being immature or antisocial isn't a bad thing, being immature is so much more fun compared to conforming to what society has regarded as acceptable for your age.

and if you don't like people being sociable why the ♥♥♥♥ should you have to.

You weren't being vague about your opinion I was just saying that I believe that people shouldn't add onto gamer. 'Hardcore gamer', 'girl gamer', whatever you play games why should it matter? :)

lol too true blank. we seem to agree on the labeling thing, as for gaming being a loney activity everybuddy, sometimes you want to be alone and do things by yourself, nope, stop that you and your dirty thoughts... I must confess if you live in a very active enviroment gaming alone is almost a god send in relaxation.
