I don't see why you'd bother about competition when it comes to a singleplayer indie platformer.
@desertman2 - fair point, though in the case of Dustforce you can see the replays which clearly show all the tricks used to get such a fast time. Then again in Jamestown the top scoring player is at something like 99,999,999 points, which as you say, is likely hacked and not worth anything.
issue lies within that you care in vain.
I don't take leaderboards seriously anyways due to all the hacked scores
Thanks for the posts everyone. Makes me feel better for some reason.
Granted experience and skill comes from hard work and time spent, but this can not be compared to the time you spend doing something that is not actually hard to achieve, rather just effortless but stupidly time consuming.
Don't bother yourself with it all that much, especially not when it comes to singleplayer platformers and games of its kind.
Sums it up pretty well. Someone will always put more time in or just be better than you or cheat/hack/glitch their way to the top. If they could ever be 100% legit it would be nice. Maybe in a clan/guild/group a legitimate leaderboard for fun could be setup to be appreciated.
