PARENTS: Games For Adults with Kids? Co-op/2-player??
Are there any games that a father would be interested in playing with his kids? Let us assume that the kids are five years old. It would have to be 2-player on one pc (multi is good too in addition.). Also assume the mom will not approve of blood, violence, and adult humor. If there were not wonderful, super-loving mothers I would not have to ask this question.

I have searched the Steam store and have not found any obvious answers to my own question; it is either a game I or they will enjoy. I even tried Google and stumped it. Parents, heads up!! The ancient PS2 or free/browser games are either not interesting to me unless I fake it with all of my energy or they are too enjoyable for a juvenile to legally or morally enjoy.

Please do not reply if you want to educate me on other activities, such as the outside. This question is not aimed at avoiding those activities at all (because believe me, we do them) but to also add a video game that we would both enjoy playing – together, you know, at the same time, as a team... . . .

Thanks!

You could try Portal 2, if you follow the steps on this thread you should be able to play it in splitscreen. Portal 2 does have a PEGI rating of 12, but I can't think of anything that actually justifies the rating rather than a 7+! Trine 2 and the Sonic 4 episodes also have local multiplayer, although neither support split screen. Instead all the action takes place on one screen and if you fall behind the "main" player the second player is warped to the location of the main player (does that make sense?). Do note that you'll need a controller in order to play multiplayer.
Portal 2 might be too complicated for a 5 year old. I would highly suggest the Lego series of games - Batman, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Carribean, etc.
Must it be a game you'd find on Steam/Xbox?
Heck. This Game Is Not On Steam But I Think I Should Suggest Minecraft.

Yep. Minecraft. It Doesn't Include violence but really fun and alot like lego. Build All You Want!

It's Great For Xbox Too Because It's Great Coop And Split Screen Is Decent.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not a parent; however, I can lend a hand. A game I thought you may enjoy with your kids might be Tower Defence. The game isn't too complicated plus the strategy aspect might bring you some enjoyment. However, I'm not sure if it supports multiplayer on a single computer. You may take turns ;D
Truth be told, the only games I can conjure up are on the Nintendo Wii console; Mario Party 9, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros.

Hopefully that helps. ^-^

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will give them a look!
The lego series are excellent for parents and kids, being a parent myself this was a fun way to introduce my daughter to social gaming. As a result we still game together on a regular basis even though she is a teenager now. Have fun :)
