First of all.. Gangnam style is a song by this korean rapper named PSY.. PSY released a crazy video for the song in July of 2012 which recently has broken the Guinness World Record for the most viewed video on YouTube ever.. The reason why the video is sooo popular is because PSY does some crazy things in the video, such as screaming at the buttocks of females and dance strangely (like he is riding on a horse).. It is also popular because it has a pretty hype beat and can somewhat be compared to LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem and other songs of the sort.

Second of all.. it really doesn't matter if a song is in Korean, German, or any language.. it's the melody and how the song sounds that counts.. because music is, and will always be, a universal language that EVERYONE can understand.. so therefore, Gangnam style is a SONG that just happens to be freakishly popular due to the video and the way it sounds...

Good analysis, I just want to add that the song is satire. Psy is doing those crazy things because it's a comedic song. It's not comedy like Weird Al or John Coulton. Gangnam Style is much more sardonic.

and agreed.. Weird Al is more of a "let's mess with a song's lyrics and make it funny," whereas PSY is more "let's make an amazing song with good lyrics, but then add the frosting/fruit filling of a crazy video that everyone can enjoy due to the crazy dances and random female buttocks and horses."
