Reasonably peaceful multiplayer adventure games
Me and a friend of mine would like to find a multiplayer game with more of a focus on adventure and such together rather than killing each other. Preferably not an MMO and for PC. We know how rare such a thing is (I can only think of Journey, and it's for PS3) but I figured I'd ask around just in case there's some game I've missed.

So far we think Torchlight 2 might be an option, just waiting for it to go on sale again. We would prefer something more relaxed, though.

Try POSTAL 2, it's fun for the whole family! (jk, I don't know any games like that)

If you both have cash, go get 2 3DS's (or a 2DS... Nintendo.... Really) and look into getting Animal crossing: New leaf.

It's probably the best non violent co-op game out at the moment.

Bientôt l'été maybe, but similar to Journey there is no direct way to connect to each other since you are supposed to play with an unknown stranger. And as far as I've played it's less of an adventure but more of an emotional experiment.

Portal 2 has a peaceful co-op, but it's a puzzle game not an adventure.

The Endless Forest was inspiration to Journey using pictograms as a way of identification. TEF is a multiplayer game, but as far as I've played it there isn't too much to do in there. You are roaming some forest and can exchange emotes with other deer-like creatures controlled by different players and interact with certain sites like shrines, flower fields or ponds which will either turn you into other animals for some time or change the appearance of your deer form in pretty extraordinary, magical ways. But it's just not really gameplay, more click and watch and feel into or so. TEF is for free so I guess it won't hurt if you take a look at it.

Portal 2, you solve puzzles together, but you can die. These are robots who are "dying" though.

If action is not completely out of the question: "The Ship" and "Bloody Good Time" are competitive multiplayer games, but they are pretty hilarious at times, you can have fun with them even if you don't rule the server scorebords.

And other ARPGs. Torchlight 2 I actually don't recommend so much. I cant relax when I play it because its a total effect overkill, most of the time my screen keeps exploding with effects. "Path of Exile" is less bursting over with such stuff, and free-to-play, so it wouldnt hurt to try that out either. I like its story more than the one in TL2 as well, even though it wasnt finished the last time I checked in (its in open beta and more acts should follow).

Garry's Mod, Terraria or Minecraft. They aren't adventure games with a driven story, use your imagination and creativity. The main factor is coop with potential of 100 hours of gameplay (if both gamer's enjoy that type)

There's a game out now that just went free to play called Capsa. There's no violence in it at all. You basically chat with people, explore, drive vehicles and you can customize your character and vehicles. Big open world where you can drive go karts, boats, horses and they'll be adding planes too. I think it's coming along great. You should check it out.

"A Way Out" maybe? It's a co-op game.

well uh.
secrets of grindea
streets of rogue

1: secrets of grindea, is a RPG with custom skill trees and whatnot, but you can kill eachother if you turn on PVP, great story, still in early access if that bothers you.
about a week ago they added a whole new zone, still in frontline tho

2: a pixelated mischievous game, lag might be a problem if you live far from eachother.

good luck!

Although most are still quite violent [your 'peaceful' comment], some games that you can at least 'play together' and not 'against each other', off the top of my head, are:

» Left 4 Dead/Left 4 Dead 2
» Planetside 2
» Diablo2/3
» Minecraft
» No Man's Sky

GL finding something you both like :crt:
