And then there's stuff like 1968 Tunnel Rats or that Zombie game by the Rogue Warrior hacks that stray from both camps and end up as abominations of gaming.
The point is, the only real way they could do a Vietnam game now is if it was a bland multiplayer game with no politics (Bad Company 2: Vietnam, which no one even bought) or if it was a soul-crushing Spec Ops: The Line-styled story. We've come too far as a society to make pro-military propaganda as ill-concieved as draft-dodging John Wayne's "The Green Berets". Hell, I remember YEARS ago there were rumors of Hideo Kojima producing a War On Terror FPS and everyone flipped their lid...despite the fact that far worse things have been produced.

You laugh at magic in Vietnam, yet you complain about the lack of originality in modern war games? Personally, I think that's a great idea, though I have no idea how the game plays. Another game in that vein is this shovelware thing:

One last thing: I'm surprised you've never played Call of Duty Black Ops from 2010. That game was noted for its Vietnam-era campaign, although the war only plays a small part in its conspiracy theory storyline and it's chock-full of anachronistic weapons.
You damn right I would. Make it Open World Vietnam AO. That would be hooooooot.
Also, there is a game called: "7554" made by Vietnamese and you play as Vietnamese (Of course).
One of my most favourite games of all time. It was slow paced (no COD piece), a good interesting story and most of all great vietnam music from the 60's (like in platoon etc)
