Are there any? I'm thinking sort of monster rancher or digimon world style games, I can't seem to find any and was wondering if any pop to peoples minds.
Also, i'm not sure if this is the right place for this thread, if it's not where should I put it?

I have this same question! I just saw the new Pokémon games in the news and thought for sure there was a monster raising game for PC at some point... Has anyone got any suggestions? Maybe there's something on Greenlight or something?

I don't know about Steam, but there's a series of games named Creatures that are pretty neat for critter-raising needs.

Sorry to necro this post but I'm also looking for a game like this, Anyone know if the Geneforge games are any good in this sense? I looked through fogofthemind's games and noticed it.

They're good as story driven RPG's, the monster raising element isn't what I was looking for. It's basically a permenant summon which you level up, so not that interesting.

Oh *scraches head* *takes it off wishlist*, I'll have a look through steam greenlight tomorrow to see if anything catches my eye. I'm pretty sure I seen 1 or 2 games that looked like promising creautre taming games but that was a while ago. If I don't find any maybe I'll start learning how to make a game xD

That sounds like a plan, make a dragon raising game. :P Let me know if you find anything good. :)

Looked through about 100 greenlight games, I wish monster taming games were as popular as zombie games @_@, I'll keep looking and post any promising ones on here

I think there's a game coming out called "Temtem" now. Several years later.

It seems to be common on mobile platforms and Facebook, which, obvious yields much lower quality products, unfortunately.
