Beware of Indie games and steam - Warning:
As much as this might seem by some as a out right attack on indie games and steam - it is not. Just going to list the issues that I have encountered along with a warning to all.

Steam in no way - does any quality control when it comes to the indie games they allow to be posted. This goes for indie games that are NOT label as early access or beta as well. In other words, A indie game developer can post for sale a game through steam - even if its not in working order or many months from it - and advertise it as a game that is complete.

I highly advise everyone - never to pre-purchase a indie game on steam (Or any other game for the matter) unless you absolutely know what your getting into to. Always wait for for the reviews or check the games forums for user feedback. For STEAM - the name of the game is MONEY. Quality Control comes last - just below refunds.

Speaking of which, It is possible to get a refund from steam - its just not very easy. Don't expect to get a refund from steam.

As long as game users keep supporting the concept of pre-purchase and indie game kickstarters without any means of a guaranty (refund, credit towards another purchase, etc...) - Steam and Indie game developes will never be held accountable for any nefarious actions or outright blunders.

If you want to gamble or support indie game developers - thats fine. Just don't complain when you get taken for a train ride to Quality Control Hell - If the game does not measure up to your working expectations.

On the other hand - if your weary of getting steamed rolled on low quality control steam/indie games - Take a stand - Do not prepurchase/buy on release day. Wait for the reviews and/or check the games forums.

This really goes for any and all games on Steam and everywhere else. Doing a bit of research before purchasing something goes a long way, and it's just common sense.
This is just common sense... Or has that died out from internet?
Never pre-purchase ANYTHING, unless you really trust the developer.

What Indie games are you talking about anyway?

Nice way to basically totally lie about your post from the outset. Congrats on honesty. Feel free to point out how the ENTIRETY of your post is not an attack on Steam and indie games in general. Every single sentence does this.

1) Steam is a store like any other store
2) Steam is not the QA department of the developers. Anymore than Walmart or BestBuy is
3) Your rant doens't actually have any coherent points

4/10 troll post. Thanks for playing.

Don't just buy stuff blindly on Steam and you'll be fine. Look up some reviews or at least videos about it.

If the game mention it's in beta or earlier anything goes imo.

Steam does not control the quality of any games which they sell...and why should they?
Steam has nothing to do with the development of any games besides those which are made by Valve.

Just imagine what kind of QA department steam would have if they would test every game, on just PC, MAC and Linux.
I think no one in Europe would be unemployed.

Yea, people are used to getting their hands held when it comes to shopping. Just because a product is on sale doesn't mean it's 100% functional. As long as what they advertise is part of the package I guess there is nothing that can be done, unless in the future games come with, guaranteed to work stickers lol.
google is your friend. Always use google to find the reviews, and if a game sucks DONT BUY IT!. Simple.:D:
