Thinking of skipping 8th gen game consoles and going PC exclusively... what are the benefits and is it worth it?
I really don't wanna shell out the money for a PS4 or an Xbox One in the future. Most of the games I want that won't be on PS3 or 360 (not that many) that'll be on Xbox One and PS4 are also on PC... plus the games will usually be cheaper. I know what kind of PC I'm gonna get possibly in the future when I can afford it (so I don't just have to play on my grandparent's), but I'm wondering if it's worth it. I have less interest in consoles than I did say 5-10 years ago. Plus the new consoles have 0 backwards compatibility while I can play all the games on Steam from many years ago and play it on machines today without a problem. Plus there are the Steam sales... would it be best to skip the 8th gen consoles and go for PC as my main instead?

I pretty much skipped the 7th gen of consoles. I do own them all but I rarely touch them. I play on my PC mostly. I don't only get games from Steam. I use Origin, Uplay, GOG, get games from Green Man Gaming, Gamersgate, Amazon, their are tons of MMO's and a couple of sites for indie gaming like Desura and Game Jolt

^I own games from other services. GOG is my favorite, but Steam gets all of the new titles.
