Has anyone seen the first season of Elementary?
Sherlock Holmes is one of my favourite characters and i found this series really entertaining.

For me, I can partly see why people like the show. It's like one of those last resort shows; I don't love it, but I can find some entertaining values.

Of course, I personally think Sherlock is a much more entertaining show. Award winning acting for the main guy.

I shouldn't be able to ruin a show you love, but my honest opinion is that the main character is an a**hole, like he should, but just not too "likable". That's the point, I suppose.

But on Sherlock (British version, on Netflix), the guy is still likable. Even the sidekick is likable.

But for some reason, I can't see the partners on Elementary as being "too" interesting. But that's just me.

Elementary is good.

Seen it and it wasn't like "Breaking Bad" greatness but still acceptable cop drama. However Sherlock, now that is great, I was blown away having watched Elementary and avoiding the British shows...

Was recommended to give it a go and A-Freaking-Mazing...it's unfortunately short but I think they put the length just right like a 3 part movie per season.

Hence the term, miniseries.

Few episodes, but they usually are long.

I adore the novels but haven't watched Elementary. I felt like it would be a letdown after the British Sherlock. Despite being a modern reimagining, IMO Sherlock is on par with the Jeremy Brett version.

In the novels Sherlock never reveals his true personality.Watson only thinks he knows him.I think the only person who knows his real personality in his brother Mycroft. He's even more intelligent then Sherlock [as Sherlock admitted] so Mycroft may be able to see things from Holmes's perspective and understand his way of thinking. Both series [Sherlock and Elementary] reveal two characters that are no match to the real detective in A.C.Doyle's novels.I've seen an episode of Sherlock and it was totally unsatisfing.Watson and Holmes were both lowsy actors and the plot seemed a bit SF.I've watched the first season of Elementary too and i'd say it's way better.

The main character got nominated for a Golden Globe. Of course you could say that "they are just a group of people in a room."

I personally think the acting is superb.

Same with Watson.

Have you ever watched Sling Blade? Yes, Billy Bob Thorton was obviously a corny actor in that movie. But at the end of the movie, I could fully understand why he got nominated for best actor at the Oscar's.

Same thing with Sherlock. Takes a while to grasp it.

However, inversely, I thought the guy on Elementary just couldn't pull off a believable character, in my book.

Maybe because he isn't really a character that is likable.

House was an a**hole. Patrick Jane can be one. However, they make you like them.

I haven't read the books, so I don't know the accurate portrayal of the real Holmes or Watson.

You should read the novels just to compare Elementary to the real Sherlock Holmes. Then you may be able to tell me the description of an ideal master detective cause if u ask me-the Elementary detective is the opposite of Sherlock Holmes.Hope you'll enjoy those novels couse they are a work of art indeed.
