"Magic moments" in games
I'm thinking about "magic" or "catching" moments in games. What games have you played which had moments, scenes, events that made you go like "Wow, this is awesome!", "I'm so gonna finish this no matter how many nights it will cost me!", "Everybody must play this!" or that put you in silent awe, that made you feel like you were dealing with more than just some random game but on the contrary with something crafted with heart, soul and meaning?

I am always trying to find such games, but it's not easy. I am >wanting< to have more such moments, but maybe that's the wrong way to approach it, maybe I should just not expect anything and let these things catch me by surprise, because the last games I've played that made me go like this were games I bought more or less out of the moment without any specific hopes or fears. If people recommend me such games I already have the expectation, it can spoil it.

Some examples coming to my mind are Dear Esther, The Walking Dead and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. All these games had "magic moments" that made me go in awe. Oblivion when crawling out of a cave looking at the star-filled night sky listening to the beautiful music of Jeremy Soule; Dear Esther when listening to the narrative powerful voice of a dieing man and seeing and feeling his journey through a visually and acoustically beautifully designed cave; and The Walking Dead when seeing how characters that got close to you and that you really cared for would either die or left behind by you.

When I finally got a kill in Counter Strike. Fortunatly I've gotten alot better since ;)
That's actually interesting. I think every first (intended) kill in every multiplayer game is something special, especially when it's direct small-scale combat like in CS (I'm a lot into Planetside 2 right now, which is a lot different) :-)

I have 26,346 deaths and 8 kills on CS:S
Seriously.
I always thought the aiming in CS and CS:S was odd. Bullets would rarely hit where I was aiming at. Other source games like DoD:S or HL2:DM work much better if you ask me.
Same here, I play solo games mostly for story only. If I seek challenge and diversity I play online games. People never act absolutely the same, it's always different.

Psychonauts: Everything after "The point of no return"
The moments in Amnesia when you realize you're going to need a fresh set of underthings.
Holding my breath in the Thief games waiting for a guard to pass. And craning my neck around the monitor to look around corners.
Immersive doesn't begin to describe the Thief games.
I'm curious to hear more. It can also be seemingly profane things. Epic login themes that would attract you without knowing much about the game (Planetside), the feeling of starting up a game and seeing images or welcome messages having some sort of "I'm home" feeling. Seeing attraction/opening sequences or menus and thinking "This is gonna be sweet" (Metal Gear Solid 4). Nostalgic bleeps from older eras and generations of games (Megaman 3). There must be more people who had such feelings at one point or another during their life as "gamers".
