Good games that use a joystick?
I am looking for a few good games that would use or have the ability to use a joystick to play the game. My joystick currently is really under used. Anyone have some games they would reccomend?

what type of joystick are you talking about? An arcade stick, a dual analog gamepad, or a flight stick?

Try the X- series. If you're up for an open space sandbox fighter/trader sims.

I would imagine fighting games would make use of that there joystick. Mortal Kombat just came out on PC. There's also Street Fighter and Skullgirls is coming to Steam some time this year.

The joystick is a Saitek Cyborg X, guess I should have said flight stick, though I didn't want to make people think of microsofts flight simulator lol. I never thought of fighting games for it, good idea, a little out of the box thinking. X series? as in XCOM?

El_Coronel was referring to Egsoft's X space sim series. Think Elite or Freespace. It was on sale just last week.

battlefield 3 and plannetside 2

I highly doubt a flight stick is going to work well for fighting games, I'd test it out on something free like Mugen before buying a game to play with it.

Only game I can recommend is HAWX, even though I played it with a gamepad. It's a good flight action game, def not a sim though. I hear HAWX 2 is really bad, however.

Oh those X games. I actually own those and never played them because they came in a bundle. I will have to download them, just watched some in-game footage.

Kerbal looks like a fun game too. In the meantime a friend introduced me to War Thunder, not on steam, free, but my complaint is it is just short battles, not really exploration fighting.

The Descent series might be worth a look (there are 3, first came out in 95', the 3rd came out in 99'). They are open source and have been ported to work with xp-win7, mac and linux with minimal headaches. Just do a google for DXX-rebirth

I enjoyed Strike Suit Zero, reminded me of a much more arcade combat oriented Freespace 2. Really good space sims are hard to find these days, I just wish Striek Suit was longer and had a more indepth story.

TIE Defender, still the absolute best story driven 'space-flight' sim ever. Shame that LucasARTS never re-released it for the new O.S. and hardware changes. Only a few have had success with DOSbox, unfortuneately, I am not one of them....

I have played x-wing (equivalent in most senses to TIE Defender) on DOSbox, it was an OK overall gaming experience (i had a hard time setting it up). Therefore i do recommend X-wing alliance i have been playing it for years and love it every time. http://xvt.uharc.net/download

Wing Commander saga. It has 55 mission and its FREE. Not a steam game but it is still awsome. www.wingcommandersaga.com Or you can try any of the freespace open ports. Freespace 1 and 2 plus the hundreds of mods.
