haha, I've had myst on my "want" list since it came out. I can't even convince my husband to buy it for me. LOL Being a girl doesn't get me much.... well, that's not totally true. My hubby did get me a puppy for my birthday. ^.^
I agree - my husband went to culinary arts school, and while he only cooks for our family now - he's a way better cook than I ever will be. Around our household, I clean, but I'm not very domestic-y. I'm the computer/electronics expert. He doesn't really play games.
but yes, it's a sort of passive aggressive begging.
It really is just a myth for the most part. I've had 6 games gifted without asking for them in the now almost 3 years on steam, 2 of which were from friends who had bought a bundle and already had one of the games included. And just for the record, I declined the other 4 randomly gifted ones because I'm just really uncomfortable with accepting stuff in that fashion.
Also puppy > games
A lot of the women..no..probably all of the women where I study play COD, so FPS percentages by me for that are pretty high.
Haha, I've had steam for 9+ years, and I don't think any of my games have been gifted. I've had a few people send me invites for the trial stuff - i.e. when it's a free play weekend or something....
but the actual game? Not so much. ^.^
Now, I have allowed people to pay for my ESEA when they wanted me to play with them because I don't like to play on ESEA very much. ^.^ (mostly because of losing karma when my internet drops me, and not allowing me to reconnect because someone else ninja's my spot in the 15 seconds it takes for them to allow the reconnect.)
I must be doing it wrong.....
Although, I will say, I almost *never* get hit on when I play. Usually, most of the comments I get are "fat wh*re" and other sexist comments.... and "you are a girl, so you must cheat." comments. LOL
Weeeell nah it's not actually that bad tbh, by far most guys don't seem to care either way and don't make a deal out of it at all even when they find out your gender. And some really are just genuinely nice about it. And people definitely seem to be getting more tolerant about girls in games nowadays, which really is a breath of fresh air
haha - I don't think i play with very many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ most of the time. Most of the people I play with hold me to the same expectations as they do everyone else, and call me on my ♥♥♥♥, good or bad just like they do any of their guy friends.
I occasionally get a bad egg, but I think the majority of people who play games tend to be pretty civil people if you think of it as a bigger picture. You tend to notice the one or two who stick out more than you do the 20-30 in a row you played with, who caused zero problems, and had no rage issues, or bad manners.
Now.... if my buddies are drinking... then I might get some lewd comments, but they hit on each other as much as they do me, so I think it's the alcohol factor, more than the gender factor. LOL

To take this to the next level...
If I were a woman/girl/whatever and I played games on Steam, I would Identify myself as one every chance I got. Think about it. On the other hand I agree with you completely regarding how we guys should treat them, and others. Or US.

People are people no matter where you go. And tolerance is not really all it is chalked up to be. To me, "acceptance, no matter what" is better. If I am an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, treat me as such, and maybe, just maybe, have the compassion to show me another way, Up to you.

Thanks. Hope yours is happy too.
