Bastion is excellent as well.
This game is known for the deep story & great characters.
on Steam...
Silent Hill Homecoming
Alan Wake
Half Life 2
for me, dwarf fortress would be emotional. i cry every single time
As for games, I can't think of any. In fact, I need help, because I used to love to be scared and be joyed, and to cry, for whatever it might be, books, films, games. The tears stopped flowing three years ago, and I haven't felt really satisfied since. Help!
Also The Lost Crown. Fantastic ghost-hunting story, with ties to the Darkfall trilogy. In fact, get the Darkfall trilogy too.
Darkfall: The Journal
Darkfall: Lights Out
Darkfall: Lost Souls (only one of the three available on Steam, unfortunately.)
