Your favorite game of all time?
If you had to pick one game, what game would you say be the greatest game of all time? (Does not have to be steam game) If you want, you can make the reasons for liking the game as simple and short and as complex and long as you want it, I don't mind either way.

Hmmm, Always had a hankering for Monopoly
This is still valid, for those of you wondering.

My personal favorite game is Paper Mario. However, I would not judge it the best game of all time, on the basis that I believe that there is no collectively "best" game of all time. How would one even begin to gauge a game like that? What criteria would be used? If it is by influence in later games, then, invariably, earlier pioneers of the video game industry must be named king. If it is by sales, then games like Modern Warfare 3 are breaking records all the time. If it is by highest rating, then I believe Ocarina of Time must be it. However, there cannot be a "best", as it is a matter of personal opinion, and thus there is no precedent. I think the name "greatest game of all time" should be changed to "favorite game of all time", because it is less imposing and probably won't cause as much controversy. But then again, I guess therein lies all the fun :D

Took your advice, re-named it to your favorite game of all time? I don't want to be imposing, I just wanted people's thoughts. Thanks for being honest about the title.

Ok, it has to be Tales of Symohina. It was the frist game I really got into. No joke. I can't count how many times I've competed it.

That's cool, I don't judge what people say that there favorite game is, at least that's what I am assuming when you say no joke. I'm just kinda interested in what good games are out there that I might be missing.

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure that this didn't turn into some stupid flame war, since I've seen many great discussions deteriorate that way. Also, I forgot to even say why Paper Mario was my favorite! Nostalgia has a lot to do with Paper Mario being my favorite game, since it was really the first RPG I ever experienced, and it fueled my love for the genre. But, on its own merit, it is a delightfully colorful, if not a little easy, RPG, rife with witty dialogue, beautiful music, charming graphics, and a titulating battle system. The sequel, The Thousand Year Door, was great too, but with the addition of Super Paper Mario, and more recently, Paper Mario: Sticker Star *shudder*, the series has taken a turn for the worst (in my opinion).

Demons/Dark souls. I honestly cannot choose between the two.

Definately do not want to start a flame war: This is the first forum I've started and anyone trying to troll other people is gonna have to answer to steam. I do like paper mario for the n64 and play it to this day (although bowser is too much of a tank near the end, although I beat him). The gamecube thousand year door I thought was great (especially the dialogue option with the final boss was classic) and the wii version.... We don't talk about that.... :( It's been downhill for nintendo, and unfortunately game series like paper mario have been going down with it, at least in my opinon: I'm not trying to be mean, I was a big fanboy of nintendo.

I really can't choose one. As I grew up in gaming my tastes have changed over the years and there's a lot of games that I have very fond memories of.

Some of the games that I've played the most are;

Ultima IV
Wizardry
Civilization III-V
Unreal Tournament
World of Warcraft
ShadowMoses 2013년 2월 4일 오후 10시 40분
Im going to say Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. because it makes me feel both at home and far away from home at the same time. i love the open world. i love the artifacts and anomolies. i love the guns. the story is very fantastical and i feel it is more fantastic than the highest rated fantasy games and stories.
