Whats that rattle snake type of sound in american stuff?
I hear this in the walking dead series, rage game, and american films when in the wilderness or desert, a really weird sound thats not quite the same as a rattle snake but similar and happens frequently.

Probably is a rattlesnake sound added as stereotypical ambience. Kind of like that screeching eagle/bird sound that you always hear in similar situations....

Sound effects can vary depending on who makes them.

Related: Ever hear video game sounds on a TV show? I remember some show using the HL2 Antlion sounds of them trying to escape a hole covered by a car.

The diamond back rattle snake sound seems to be it or though what I hear in the games and films is more of a ghostly sound, america must be crawling with diamond backs to hear one every minuite or so, or its just sound ambionce put in by editors lol.

Can you find a clip on youtube or something with the sound? Could it be cicadas?

Here's a video of one, but I assume there are many species with different types of sounds.

Cicadas are definatly common in a lot of America. Not so much with rattlesnakes.
Fortunatly, I don't have either.
