Looking for game with high exploration factor
Can anyone suggest games that allow a great degree of exploration of the world? Dishonored allowed lots of exploring of sewers, buildings, etc. I love that aspect--where you are not on the clock and can appreciate a rich physical environment. Finding secrets and hidden rewards that the more hurried gamers pass by is especially appealing. Any candidates?

Good 1...S.T.A.L.K.E.R. If you like Chernobyl, and want to actually go there and see for yourself the mess it caused, and the effects to the 'wildlife' then get playing it, There are 3 in the franchise:
STALKER:Shadow of Chernobyl
STALKER:Clear Sky
STALKER:Call of Pripyat . . I own and have played all 3 and I prefer the 1st one, but there is Exploring to do, trading, guns and gun mods, faction wars, Mystery, and a BRILLIANT soundtrack which captures perfectly the desoluteness of the 30km exclusion zone around the Chernobyl Npp and nearby city of Pripyat.
Discover what happened and the legacy of what that disaster had left behind as you and hundreds of other men known as STALKERS venture deep into the unknown 'changed' landscape known infamously as....'The Zone'.....

(Spare change of underwear and lights off mode is Mandatory)

Do you write ad copy? You about sold me on it!

I would also recommend the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is good also. A lot of people might disagree with me on this but the first Mass Effect is my favorite of the series because of how open the world is and the immense amount of exploration. Dragon's Dogma is more linear than Elder Scrolls but still very big and open with lots to explore. Bethesda has really done a great job with Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Those are some of the most open and interesting worlds around. I have spent hundreds of hours exploring those games, I have over a hundred hours on Skyrim alone and I haven't beaten it or even come close yet. It just sends you spiraling on an adventure of unpredictability and fun(I know it sounds cheesy but true).

Thanks for the recommendations. I have more to add to my wishlist now.

What do you think, Lara? Which game(s) grab your fancy? Give us some feed back :)

Wow, I was offline for a LONG time. Busy with a Real World project, so not much gaming. I prefer the slow stuff, so the odd little games like Miasmata look good. Mass Effect has a good looking trailer with a good story line, and with all the discussion here, I may try it. Worms? Haven't looked at that, but since I like odd games, the name intrigues me.

I love beautiful games, so I may give Skyrim a try when I can get back to gaming in a month or two. (I got got caught up in a movie project that demands most of my time with constant deadlines). So many games! With unlimited money, I'd try them all. I like the free-to-play idea of Fallen earth. I'll have to view all the teasers on my wish list and throw a dart to pick one.

hrm, well observed there, She's probably not even looked at this thread even if I'm guessing correct, so she'll have a chuckle when she does thats all i'll say lol

Indeed, I am getting more than I figured. Talk about getting behind on threads! Now to pick one to start with Of course, there are the expansions for Dishonored, but something new would be nice.

As others have said; FO3, New Vegas, and Mass Effect.

The trailer for Fallout New Vegas cracks me up with the Spurs song. I guess it remains to be seen if I can get very far in a FPS. I've got the reaction time of a sloth, unfortunately. I really makes me mad that I can't play some of these that expect hand-eye coordination above and beyond my brain wiring.

Borderlands, borderlands 2, World of Warcraft, Minecraft, Hellgate london (really old game), Diablo/Diablo II/ Diablo III, Farcry 3, Star Wars the Old Republic (basically WoW+Star Wars), Just Cause 2.

Played WoW for 5 years. Pretty much explored that. :) Not Mists of Pandaria. Diablo III was not so much exploration, since it is so linear. Vanguard had lots to explore. The others I haven't tried.
