...what? I don't even get the relevance of this response. Did you just say that you're not a gamer if you make use of mods? Entertainment isn't an on/off switch and the entertainment derived from a mod for one game has absolutely no bearing on my decision to purchase another.
Are you saying that a mod only has worth if it's a novelty alternative as opposed to being the preferred method of play?
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mister, I just wanted to thank you, I am not the maker of this thread, but for years I have been looking for something like this game, thank you so much!
I honestly don't agree with that, so please, allow me to counteract your argument. Just because something is a mod, doesn't mean it's not a game. Things like DayZ don't just augment how the game is played, they use the game as footing, to leap to the sky. DayZ used the Arma 2 engine to achieve what they could call a game of their own. Think about it. Would you say Counter Strike wasn't a first person shooter game because it was a mod for Half Life?
The second biggest problem I had with your argument was the claim that "foods everywhere so you don't need to survive from starving". One the contrary, the first time I played this I didn't find food for at least 3 hours in, whereupon at that point, I felt like a mule that had gotten castrated. This just goes to show that with the random positioning of the food, it really is just pot luck. Anyone's game. Be that as it may, I wont deny that the animations and AI for the zombies contain as much sophistication as a crack ♥♥♥♥♥ living in the slums of Brazil...
When it comes to whether Arma 2 is better with the mod or not is really just a case of opinion. Everyone has different tastes. Me, personally, prefer the tense feeling of never being safe, always looking around for the next biggest douche bag to come and launder my treasured, hard gotten belongings. But again, not for everyone. I think DayZ was a great mod that certainly had a lot of effort put into it. I'm not saying you don't know that, because you probably do. Everyone who's ever glanced at some of the crap to reach steam greenlight can see just how much effort the developer's have gone through to make a survival experience that makes you grateful you have the glory of tap water and bread.
