AAAAAAAH!
We aren't talking about a stick or rifle. We're talking about the Energy Sword that was claimed to be "only" wielded by "special" Elites--in which I proved otherwise. And then I discussed how the Lightsaber can only be wielded by a Force user (Jedi/Sith) because of the tedious requirements it has, and no, the practice swords do not count. So that point was strictly made against the previous claim for the ES.
Lastly I discussed how, despite the wielder, swinging the sword around like a madman is how the Energy Sword is actually used all the time--human or elite--and that the Lightsaber is used with true talent prowess.
It WAS wielded by special elites, in the past.
Now it is massively distributed and trained to a lot of lower class untrained elites to due demand of elites in battle fighting the Spartans, in the first few halo games it was only wielded by a few special Classes of elites, and it slowly progressed, but most of the time we see it is with high ranking elites.
And the Energy sword and lightsaber seem relatively easy to use, whats so difficult about Swish swish stab? (Red vs blue reference there)
Honestly, the only training needed for either is the skill to use it and look awesome whilst using it, but it would work fine for normal combat (both lightsaber and energy sword).
Really, all this talk about these things and they don't even exist, the closest we have to a lightsaber is this

Really, do i HAVE to say this AGAIN? we are not discussing the People holding it, THE WEAPON IS THE ARGUEMENT.
Also, once again it is not swung around randomly, in game its a straight stab or a slash in a direction, not at all waving it around, if you were to do that, then your entire team would be at risk, and yourself (it is superheated plasma held in place by magnetic fields).
You said only, you never gave me past tense so I assumed all the Elites using it were those special Elites.
Okay then, let us discuss those high ranking Elites we saw in the First few Halo games. Is there any in game cinema where they are shown using the Sword NOT just slashing at their enemies?
Energy Sword is, but I disagree about the Lightsaber. I showed you how you are wrong by giving you various videos of Sith and Jedi, even Padawans, using the Lightsaber and displaying advance or extreme skill with it.
You showed me Elites and Spartans using the Energy Sword slashing or simply stabbing through people.
My videos involved high levels of talent, grace, and complexity. Your videos showed the Elites using rather simple forms of fighting with their swords.
I still wish to see the videos you said where they, Red vs Blue or the Elites, are fighting with the swords with more than just simple fighting tactics like slashing and stabbing.

No, you are wrong and I already told you how you are. The Lightsaber requires many things to be wielded, all of which I mentioned before or linked to. I even proved that to be so by showing you "visual" proof.

There isn't a need to get excited over this.
The people are just as relevant to the discussion as the weapon is. The abilities and restrictions the weapon requires are only met by the wielder of it, so it pertains to the discussion perfectly. Otherwise you would not have told me "Only special Elites could use it" (paraphrasing), so obviously you deemed it important when you thought it favored the Energy Sword.
So I am sorry if you do not understand what I mean when I say this is important to the debate, but it "is" perfectly relevant.

Your videos proved otherwise. The only complex motion performed in any of the videos you linked me to was performed by an Elite "back stabbing" a Spartan whilst simultaneously lifting him.
You say they don't "simply do this and that", and that they "do more" yet you won't link me to what makes you think this way. Unless, of course, you think the previous videos prove this?
Then I would have to ask you why you believe what the Elites perform to be more than "simplicity" when you do not voice the complexity of the Jedi/Sith in the videos I posted. And then I would ask why you would still think the Energy Sword is superior when not only is the LS more complex in design and features, but in its wielders as well who perform moves that are intricate with intricate weapons.
EDIT1
Sorry that the bottom half of this post is nested into quotes. I don't why it is doing it, there aren't any quote tags around them or anything! Arg! Frustrating!
EDIT2
For the last few quotes I had to switch them to "<Marksinator=:>" because the quote system was breaking. Sorry again!
I only mention the elites when talking about the energy sword because you mention the jedi when talking about the lightsaber, now, i Did in fact link you a video (unless i imagined i did) that included more than an energy sword assassinaton, it showed the Stabbing and such. They mention more moves in the books than just swishing and stabbing, And i was not getting excited before, i just thought i would try and get you to see that so that you would stop with mentioning jedi, i would then stop mentioning elites.
Now imagine a scene where 2 citizens from 2 different towns, possibly enemies, happened to be in a fighting arena, one with a lightsaber and one with an energy sword.
they are evenly matched, Who would win?
Well, to be more correct, i am a Massive Halo fan, i just know a bit about starwars due to my Lil' Bro who is in love with it.
It doesn't matter if I did, because I am the one who thinks this is important to the discussion, and it is. If you hadn't thought it relevant, even if I first mentioned it, you would not have mentioned it.
You linked me to four (or was it three?) videos were only the last one showed some form of complex skills to its killing, and it was when the Elite ran toward the player, stabbed him in the back and lifted him. Everything else you posted was of Elites or players just swinging the sword left, right, up or down (and back stab) and none of that compares to the skill the Jedi/Sith/Padawans displayed in the videos I presented you with. Oh, and you posted one where two players "dueled"--aka they slashed at each other and bounced away just redo the same thing again until one of them died.
I can see perfectly fine, and typing in all caps would not have made me see your point of the wielders not being important. I already explained why they are. It is like discussing if a hammer is useful without asking or discussing WHO is using the hammer.
The Jedi, because they would not be evenly matched . I highly doubt, even if I were to believe the Elites do in fact possess skill with the Energy Sword, that they could ever compete with a Jedi and what they can do.
Firstly, Luke was still a Padawan, but given the cirumstances he had to become a Jedi to fight Darth Vader (in which he first lost) because he was the last Jedi (Even Darth Vader mentions this in the video I will post at the end). Secondly, it was more than a "few" training sessions with Obi-Wan Kenobi, and he had even more tutelage under Master Yoda. Lastly, you said it yourself--Luke is an "anomoly". The Force is strong in him, even stronger (I do believe!) than Anakin Skywalker, who is said to have been conceived by the Midi-chlorians, so when the Lightsaber and being a Jedi heavily relies on 1) intellent 2) grace 3) control of your emotions (which Obi-wan taught him) and 4) the Force, then he meets the requirements I previously mentioned.
And during Luke's first fight he is massively overwhelmed. He's nowhere near the talent he should be to even attempt a fight with someone like Vader, and it is proven by his defeat and his loss of control in the fight at the end.
End note;
I did not mean "could not wield" as in they could not pick up the Lightsaber before a certain time, that is absurd. I meant only the ones who are trained and are capable can pick it up and perform actions that I previously mentioned and linked to. Otherwise, they would be Padawans or Underlings--in which I was talking about Jedi and Sith and that the Lightsaber is deadly (dealier than ES), even moreso in the hands of the ones they were meant to be in, fully developed Jedi/Sith.
EDIT:
Fixed the stupid youtube link. Ugh!
It isn't about "flashy", it is the fact that the Lightsaber is superior and requires actual talent to actually wield. And yes, it is better than the Energy Sword for multiple reasons--all of which I stated probably four times now.
And the ES "could" be capable of it, but I haven't be shown any reason to believe it can other than a claim from a book/wikia page with nothing to back it. Does anyone have a excerpt of a fight scene in the books I could read?
Basic motive of Jedi = Do not attack first, peace is good
Basic motive of Covenant = Kill kill kill mass suicide go to alien heaven
The Elites are the Elite because they are the top of the Covenant army chain. They fight for a Prophet leading them on a holy mission, which includes killing all non-Covenant.
The Jedi work towards peace in their universe, and are never the first ones two unsheath their weapons, and prefer not to unless absolutely necessary
So you have one group who wants to kill, and one group who does not.
Is it too far of a stretch to maybe suggest that they would have different fighting styles?
Look at the design of the weapons themselves. The weapons are good indicators of their fighting style.
A lightsaber, when wielded, is almost always held in a defensive position. It is as much of a shield as it is a weapon. Even when wielded by Sith, they almost always choose a defensive position that caters to the way the weapon handles.
An energy sword, is held in a fist, and is always wielded in a way that will be used in direct attacks against enemies. The energy sword *can* deflect bullets, but it is not made to. It's sole purpose is to get the kill.
It's like comparing apples and oranges. Yes they are both fruit, and yes they are both delicious, but they are not the same.
