Turn based game for group of friends
Hi

i dunno if this had to be in steam or off topic, since it could be a steam game :p

but basically looking for a kind of turn based game to play with a group of people BUT not just any kind of turn based game.

is there such thing as a game out there that will allow us to take our turns whether or not everyone is online. so someone has free time, logs in, does their stuff, sends the turn n logs out. next person logs in later n does the same thing etc

i thought maybe this would have worked with a football league or something but im not sure thats how FM works. (doesnt have to be football game)

anyone know of anything like this?

not really what i was looking for :p
Did a quick google search. Frozen Synapse seems to have this feature. Also, Civilization V may have this in game; if not, there is something called Giant Multiplayer Robot that can arrange play by email mode.

+1 for Frozen Synapse

or if you want to go outside of steam offered games, Solium Infernum is an awesome asynchronous turn based strategy/diplomacy game (http://www.crypticcomet.com/games/SI/Solium_Infernum.html)

or you can always go with the classic diplomacy game which is probably the oldest asynchronous turn based game there is. theres some web implementations such as (http://webdiplomacy.net/) although this game can lead to bad feelings between friends as it is all about lying and backstabbing at critical moments.

+1 for Frozen Synapse

and although it is not available yet, this one looks very nice (and will allow asynchronous multiplayer):

Civ IV had 'Play by email' (pbem), but it seems to be discontinued for Civ V. as a throw back, Alpha Centari also is pbem and made by the same folks that make Civilization (actually Alpha Centari still pretty fun and is well balanced with the ability to customize the units you built. alien planet that evolves, your actions can alter weather and terrain. 7 factions. its a follow up for civ, what happens after you win the space race)

Solium infernum and dominions 3 are both pbem

http://www.crypticcomet.com/ for solium infernum

http://www.dominions3.com/ for dominions

there are web sites that allow you to play board games that way as well.

Actually now I think about I'm going to reinstall Alpha Centari. Only civ game where a nuke could turn a mountain into a small lake.
