i need a good permadeath game

firstly i apologize if i'm cloning any discussions here. i like the idea of PD in faster than light, xcom, warlords battlecry, torchlight and diablo(2). anyone have any games for pc that'd be good for that feature? the more difficult the better!

When I saw the title of your thread I was going to recommend Faster Than Light but I guess there is no point.

You may like Dungeons of Dredmor, it is a roguelike and is very cheap.

terraria on the hardest difficulty forces you right back to the beginning if you die meaning you lose all your stuff hope these help I am a more kind of RTS gamre than dungeon crawler

You should take a look at Dungeons of Dredmor, it is a great roguelike, and cheap. There is also The Binding of Isaac.

I'm quite fond of the Escape Velocity series, if you like overhead space shooter battle/merchant/space exploration games. Great for its (optional) permadeath. You can eject yourself in a lifepod and hope someone rescues you, but if you don't eject in time, bye bye progress. The latest entry is for Windows, but unfortunately not on Steam yet.

I agree with both Dungeons of Dredmor and Binding of Isaac. Dungeons of Dredmor has steam workshop integrated with it so there is even more content available. If you wait until a major sale (Black Friday/ Thanksgiving or Christmas) you can get them for super cheap and they will easily provide 20+ hours of entertainment.

thanks guys these games look fun. i've never noticed escape velocity, have to give it a shot. one game i've seen and can't wait for is wasteland 2... the first one sounds good but i'm not sure how DOS will go on windows 7

Dungeons of Dredmor is a cute little roguelike. Not as hard as most roguelikes but it's fairly difficult. Has a permadeath feature and the humour in the game is decent. I'd recommend it. Realm of the Mad God is another great permadeath game.

check out TOME 4 - not on steam yet, still in greenlight - but in my opinion the best roguelike out there, permadeath and great variation all wrapped up in one extremely addicting and engrossing package - its genius and has sucked days of my life! Can not recommend it highly enough - should also nicely satisfy your craving for difficulty - and can be downloaded and played for free on pc, mca or linux. Take a risk and try it - you wont be disapointed!
