Why I think Ubisoft is amazing.
Ubisoft, In my personal opinon, is the best publisher out there. And heres why: They make a Ton of games, and its like they can't miss. Im a resident of the united states, Im very patriotic, and I love military themed games, so naturally, Tom Clancy games are awesome to me. (R.I.P Tom D:) To give an example, heres a list of ubisofts biggest games.

Tom Clancy:

Ghost Recon
Splinter Cell
Rainbow Six
(and now) The Division

Ubisoft Originals:

Far Cry
Assassins Creed
(and now) Watch Dogs
Driver

And thats just the surface:

Ubisoft makes so many games, and almost all of them are full on, Triple AAA titles. And they are always spectacular. And you never see a call of duty or battlefield from them, all of their games, including their run of the mill shooters (Rainbow six, ghost recon) arent even run of the mill, there is always something innovative and different.

Aside from games. Ubisoft in general has been awesome, Ive always been far impressed by their customer service, and they are always helpful.

And as far as uplay goes, compared to steam its obviously a piece of s***, but on its own its not that bad really. But I give them a pass on this because they still put all of their games on steam, and I have never had a problem with their pc ports.

I am buying 4 games this year:

-Battlefield 4
-Splinter Cell Blacklist (Well ive already bought this one and played it)
-Watch dogs
-Assassins creed 4

See? 3 out of 4 games are ubisoft.

So what do you guys think, have you had any rotten experiences in the past with ubi, or are you as fanboy as I am for them. Or are there any other publishers out there that are killing it right now? Discuss.

I saw the preview for Assassins Creed 4 on Walking Dead last night, and was surprisingly underwhelmed.

the real problem i have is with the new rainbow six game.. to suggest to gamers, many of them impressionable and young that what our country currently does in stripping our rights, destroying our economy, or aiding foreign entities or corporations at a detriment to the american people.. is actually justifyable,

and no doubt this game will include the necessary propaganda to guide these people into a belief that anyone who wants to stop it in any way, is a terrorist, a a bad person, and should be hunted down and killed without any discretion by none other than a team of international soldiers, operating under none other than the united nations as if the UN has any right sending any kind of military or police force into this country to force their laws upon us

so the very thought of this new rainbow six game and ubisoft in general just sickens me to a point to where i cant even play any games of theirs i might already have without a great sense of shame and disgust.. the only thing this company deserves from me at this point is a vertical placement of my middle digit

Took the words right out of my mouth. UBI is so desperate for a hit, they think if they make a game controversial, it must sell. R6 is a shadow of its former self.
Ulfrinn 14/out./2013 às 15:11
you know what my favorite rainbow six game was?.. i mean, i loved hanging upside down outside a window on a rope.. having the proximity feature for the voice chat so enemies close enough could hear me.. id say "hey.. i shot that prick hanging outside the window, its safe to go back in the room" only to hear someone from the other team say "ok, thanks" before walking in and getting shot :D...

but still, my favorite rainbow six game and i mean i played the hell out of this.. was black arrow on the original xbox, theyve been going downhill since then and one of the features i loved from that game was the variety in maps.. maps from all around the world, not just a single city

Favorite R6 moment was back on 56K dial-up death-matches for Rogue Spear. A guy on our team got butt-hurt over something, and as soon as we start the match (we were 8 guys in a tiny room) this guy pulls out his pistol and begins picking us off. Those quick enough pulled out their own weapons as a reflex and for a second we were all firing on each other in a mass blood bath. 2 seconds later it was all over and only me and one other guy were still standing. We banned that guy.
Ulfrinn 14/out./2013 às 15:32
i think black arrow was just the console version of rogue spear.. i was so in love with the PSG1.. i actually learned the engineering behind firearms so that i could build my own PSG1 (originals are over $10,000) now im my own gunsmith and design my own guns from scratch in real life :D

You guys are idiots. Just plain idiots. Patriots is absolutely correct. Patriots was written by tom himself before he died, ubisoft confirmed this in an interview before the project went dark for next gen. Tom Clancy was one of the greatest writers of all time, and I completely agree with pretty much all of his military and political views, in reading virtually all of his books. I think patriots' storyline hits the nail on the head. I feel like its just the hipster attitude that you should hate everything new just because its something that the general public will play now not just the hardcore gamers. Trust me, I am a hardcore gamer myself, play over 30 hours a week, and I would certainly love to only have other guys like me that have the same passion for gaming as I do, but that doesnt mean I boycott a game just because its a game that you will see the average joe play on his xbox 360 he bought last year. And also if you think about it, if the game is mainstream, then it gets them more money, and we get better games.
Ulfrinn 14/out./2013 às 16:38
i never said anything about it being mainstream or not or whether console people will play it or not.. i wont even play most PC games without a controller, i dont like it for the political anti-american (pro corrupt government) slant the game has. and in the last 6 months the best games ive been playing were not large developers
hiss.orchid 14/out./2013 às 16:46
Nonnoononono. You dont like the pro corrupt government? You know why you dont like patriots? You dont understand Patriots, thats why. Its definitely not pro corrupt government in any way. The "True Patriots" are the villans, the enemies, seen as terrorists in the game. Look, I believe that the stuff happening in the government right now is so F*cked up. But being a terrorist, and trying to take over the country calling yourself a true patriot is no way to solve the problem. And thats exactly what the game deals with, the fact that there IS problems going on in the government, but america doesnt negotiate with terrorists, and there are other ways to solve those problems.

And who knows, patriots might make a blacklist angle, where the motives of the terrorists arent actually what they are publicly saying. In blacklist the engineers say that their motive is to bring the troops home, but in reality thats all a lie to get leverage and gain something else. Could be the same thing. These "True patriots" could be using this angle to try and play with emotions people are having in the country to gain leverage and then turn on them for the master plan.

IDK, this is all speculation, but tom clancy is a very patriotic, conservative man, and in no way would he write a story where terrorists, or pro corrupt governments are portrayed as good. Thats just not simply what he believes in any way shape or form. We know this from his various books and writings, and interviews.
Ulfrinn 14/out./2013 às 17:16
true patriots are people that follow the constitution and believe in what this country should stand for.. if we fight back against corruption it will be those people, the true patriots who do it.. this game paints the picture of the true american patriots as terrorists trying to take over the country for their own purposes.. so that people would equate any attempt to fight against the corruption to that.. to little more than a terrorist groups.. and with things like NDAA and the patriot act, merely declaring a group of people to be terrorists is all the government needs to unleash the powers it has granted itself to kill every last one of them without due process, without any protection of the us constitution... this game essentially makes people more comfortable with that should the government do it with people.. because theyre just terrorists anyway, right?

its like the US CITIZENZ! that were targetted and killed via drone-strike in pakistan.. whether terrorists or not, as US citizens they had a right to a fair trial and due process.. did people make a fuss about it? not really because once someones labeled a terrorists it doesnt matter what happens to them anymore whether theyre guilty of it or not.. and im sick and tired of this conditioning of the american people to sit by and let crimes against our own people go on based on a declaration of a label

No, I think your reading me wrong, or just skimming over my posts. I completely and utterly agree with you. Im agreeing with you right now. Everything you just said I 100% could not agree more. And the game also portrays this as well. The game will deal with these issues that you are talking about, like declaring a group of people terrorists and unleashing unlimited power, the game (as they have been saying) will deal with these issues, and what the soldiers, or the rainbow six soldiers that are being deployed to stop this, go through in trying to morally do their jobs.

Im not disagreeing with you in any way right now. I just think your making some assumptions about the game.

How about you providing a source for Tom being the writer of the R6: Patriots story? Rainbow 6 Patriots Creative Director Is Gone[www.gameinformer.com] states otherwise with the firing of narrative director Richard Rouse III, being fired from the development team as well as lead designer Philippe Therien (otherwise known as Goliath) who had made some really stupid statements about the R6 franchise and PC gamers in the past. he should have been canned long time ago.

Narrative means story and that article shows that Tom, who hasn't had much to do with video games after he sold his name to Ubisoft, wouldn't have written that story.
