yeah the intro has all the 4 party members meeting, and then you must play through 4 mandatory "how did they get here" flashbacks, each one being an hour, maybe an hour and a half. and after that...well, then the actual game starts lol. but id say its worth it, really fantastic game.
thatd be a good thread idea actually...games with very long intros/tutorials before you are actually getting to play the "meat" of the game, so to speak.
persona 3, 4, and 5 would definitely all being on that list
What? No Persona 2: Eternal Punishment?
Booooooooooooooooooooooooo.
i love persona 2 duology, my favourite of the persona series actually. but intros of innocent sin and eternal punishment, really not so bad. they get you into the "meat" rather quickly.
but intros of 3, 4, and 5? hoooooooours long. especially 5, which i feel is egregious in that department.
I have the remake on the Wii. It's really good.
*interesting that IGN gave it a 5.4 because I would give it at least an 8. But I love the horror theme, the roguelike dungeon delving, and the many different endings you can unlock that reveal what a twisted mess the world has become. They say the story lacks direction, but the whole point is to feel lost and confused in this strange world and force you to keep fighting for bits and pieces of answers.
The original got remade with the 4-5 engine, and 2 was being worked on, last I checked.

Between John Carmak's smooth tile refresh technology, and the tongue in cheek humor, including hitchhiker guide to the galaxy references, the series was very influential, and games as recent as Subnautica were making references to it.

Also, Commander Keen was B.J. Blazkowicz's grandson, and Doomguy's father or grandfather. Bethesda proposed a mobile reboot and quickly cancelled it after poor reception to the trailer, but I like the idea that Billy Blaze had a twin son and daughter of his own. The way I see it, his son became Doomguy, and his daughter became the Marine training sergeant Crash from Quake 3, and Quake Ranger was her son, making Ranger Doomguy's nephew.
I wanted to get my hands on this one.
Syphon Filter 2 has aged quite heavily, but it's still a good third person shooter. Unfortunately, the manual aiming is horribly outdated.
I can't give any praise to the PS1 Tomb Raider games. Tank controls suck, and have always sucked.
Except they work, which is more than the so-called modern controls can claim.
The first reboot (Legend, Anniversary, Underworld) had clunky controls, but were at least playable.
