Should I stay on PC or move to PS5?

Hey guys, i don't really know what to do.
I'm a huge PC Gaming fan, been playing on it for nearly 10 years now and I couldn't be happier honestly.

My main problem with the actual PC scene are the prices.

Yes, Steam has some amazing deals, but new AAA games are still expensive. On console, I can easily get some new games for 50, 40 bucks and resell them once I'm done with them. I have games in my steam library from like 2020/2017 that I just played for a little bit or finished them and never played them again lol.

GPUs are also getting expensive, but I don't mind buying on the second hand market so this isn't a huge issue for me.

What should I do? Stay on PC or move to console completely? PS5s go for 400€ and as I said physical games are extremely cheap.

If you're looking to buy a console, but into PC you may want to go with Xbox.

Over there you can get Ge Force Now thru their Edge browser, and access to Steam, Ubi, EA and Epic, and with their MS bonafides can in the future may be more in tune with Steam and PC. As well as Game Pass.

That's what i do. I'm here on Steam, mainly because of Xbox.

With PS you're leaving PC altogether.

Also certain xbox has for certain games crossplatform play at least for the windows store versions for instance forza

More Cons of PS5:

- closed system, can't do anything
- No games(playstation has some exclusives but they all come to steam at some point now), no sales means publishers go other places.
- Barely any backwards compatibility, some of your games will be lost to time, Meanwhile PC it's in your library and can be played whenever you want, no second system required.
- Playstation is really a old concept being a console in competition with PC, the only thing keeping it going is GTAVI.

Pre-built closed systems(which in this part is Xbox and playstation) that don't have character(like nintendo) are going to go the way of the dinosaur.

If you want to be on that sinking ship - thrill rides are everywhere.

Sad that ppl want to play only GTA6 tho and not the other great titles avaliable. Astro Boy for example isn't avaliable anywhere else i think and is pretty great imo (the free demo at least).

There's "reasons" why it's best to game on PC. You think the prices of PC is high? So is the prices for consoles, at least with PC you get way more variety.

You can't really travel around with your ps5 comfortably, so simplicity is the only reason here to get one. Which isn't even a real advantage since it is the dumbing down of games.

i do play old games! but if im excited for a new game i dont want to be limited by my crusty ass pc or whatever. i love ps3/360 era games honestly, but i also want to play gow ragnarok, tlou 2 remaster, cp2077 with rt (not a big fan of the tech but i think that it looks amazing on that game), the new cod, silent hill 2, etc...

the main advantages for PC are:

-being able to mod games

-more variety of possible usable setups (can be shared across handhelds,desktops and laptops)

-free online multiplayer

while for a PS5:

-games likely require less setup

-might be smoother depending on the quality of specific PC ports in comparison to the console

-less cheaters online

idc about the online cuz i can ps plus premium with my friend so its not that expensive and i would be getting a HUGE library of games. i had fun playing modded minecraft and bo3 but i dont really care about it anyways. i do like pc handhealds tho, had a steam deck a while back and i loved it.

hey man,

yeaaa im not interested in the ...... rip off value of GPU prices. if you try to get the latest model gpu, you're paying for a used car broski.

makes the console look better, and it does have really good power now, basically a mini pc just for gaming. mass production model cpu / gpu combo built for nothing but performance, high rendering and framerate.

so you dont need to deal with the tediums of design philosophy or component compatibility, and generally games built for the playstation run the best on the console compared to the pc port, in many cases, including the user experience (lag/network/etc) usually better on console.

i think its a decent move to make these days, you get a great system at a great value, sacrificing a little bit on the power supply quality and ram.

me personally, i just hate how the thing is totally jailed and offers zero user control outside of what they give you. reminds me of apple, and i just can't stand that product philosophy. i desire more control, so i stay with pc.

ehh there are a couple of xbox games that i like but looks like they will all come to ps after a few months (indiana jones, for example) so not an issue.

console future seem to be dark, i dont see improvment since 2013

also it depend your pc we dont know the pc you have

so if you use rtx gpu dont buy ps5 you only waste your money

i currently have an rx 6650 xt, it isnt a bad card by any means but i want to upgrade to a 32" 1440p monitor. my current card cant handle that, i would have to at least pay 300 bucks for a new gpu from the used market. for 100 bucks more i can get a ps5 with a disk drive. but yeah ur right i dont think that physycal games will last that much longer unfortunately.

There are bundles of steamkeys about! Deals all around you!!! Seriously though it's cheaper on PC than console. I have both the Series X and PS5. I'd personally recommend to go with PS + PC combo. But be aware you gotta pay to play online games...(with the exception of free games).

true, i just checked humble monthly out and they gaved some really good games for only 10€ a month they gived out some pretty good games honestly.

You're also very limited when it comes to games. PC as a platform is more open than just Steam. But on Consoles you're limited to the games sold on the Store. Not the case on PC though. Here there are indeed other Stores, some better than others which do have games which aren't on Steam.

You have much more available here on PC than on Console.

yeah... there are a bunch of pc games that i like that arent on console (cs2, minecraft java or most mmos) but again i don think that im missing out that much,

ion care how people on a nerdy ass forum categorize me, no offense. as i said in my main post, physycal games are usually cheaper than pc game keys. the second hand market a ton of games for less than 30€, not onlu that but i can get all my money back when i finnish them by just reselling them.

Obviously your choice. I tried options outside of Steam and found them lackluster. I even tried console exclusively and after PC and found that it just didn't hit the same. Console is ok for some things but I'm mostly a fan of PC. Just my own preference.

Older games are often much cheaper than their release date.
Also, if the idea is to buy a game and they sell it, then just buy an Xbox game pass, I guess? $10 a month for access to many games is nice.

At least the PC can be used 10 years later for everything and might be good enough to run newest games, meanwhile PS5 stays as a console and nothing else.

i mean i could also keep a console for 10 years and i would get all the new games.
i meant that with consoles i can just game a new game that released for 80 bucks, finnish it in a week and sell it right away and barely loose any money.

I mean if you're only trying to be the top 1% of "gamers" and you HAVE to have the newest GPUs when they come out. I don't know your financial situation, but with the 5070 looking to be 500$.

i dont need the newest thing, but i want something that will last.

yeah theyll prolly go down soon. for now im looking at the 2080ti, 3070 or rx 6800. if i find a REALLY good deal then ill prolly buy one now, if not then ill just wait till the next gen and do what u said.

i dont care about the closed system thing cuz i only want to play games, just like what ive been doing on my pc.
ps hasnt released that many games, but mostly all the first half of consoel gens are pretty lackluster in this aspect.
ur right with the back compat thing, i would honestly love to play some ps3 era games.

I got a disc version "slim" of PS5 and it is gigantic. I think it wasn't a slim but they fooled me, not sure.
