Whats it like to have friends?
Honestly I feel as of late all the people from school I've grown up with playing games, and some others i met after schooling, just dont mesh well anymore. I don't get asked to play games with friends, nobody asks how I'm doing, I can go for months without showing up in the discord and nobody bats a eye about where I've been. Its gotten frustrating over time and I'm kinda tired of it, I miss having others that enjoyed playing games together, but all communities just suck anymore and its damn near impossible to connect with others anymore.

Connections with people are nice when they are good and healthy. I have a friend I haven't seen in awhile that I used to hang out with at the coffee shop after we spent our time at the track. I miss that friend but because life isn't great for me I feel that I might make that friend miserable and so I no longer talk to him. Another friend I have, who was an ex-fiancee, frustrates me as she isn't the game I thought she would be. When I first met her she said she liked gaming but it really never showed as she would rather watch tv or do other things much more and it was frustrating and it still is frustrating today as when she games she seems to have fun but doesn't value the good time we have with it. At least not in the same way I do. I recently messaged her on Facebook and told her among other things if she ever wanted to game well I am up for that and she hasn't asked to do anything since. Facts are I need to find more gaming friends that are local. Not easy when I find it hard to let new people in my life and don't really want to go out anymore because I just really don't like what I see out there from people especially because of the last 5 to 10 years with very Liberal leftist policies messing up Canadians. Also eh at 52 it is harder to make friends as people don't have time to do things because of obligations. Anyway eh OP good luck in your quest to find friends and create a happier life for yourself.

i dont have any human friend currently, who i would consider close. but i have had such relationships in the past. i guess if i had to describe it, it feels like always have someone there who could understand and help you, in any situation. a feeling of comfort, of another human being who understands your traumas and experiences and sympathises with them

Once you hit a certain age in life, getting friends is difficult, between life and jobs. Some people consider people at work friends, but if the only time you talk is at work, are they more than casual acquaintances. The same thing happens in the dating market as well.

I don't know if you consider ppl your friend that you always have to speak first to them or that you are the one always setting up gaming or what not. You might get a single word reply and some "friends" might only reply if you start a fight or mention something you know they would fight about.

a sad but truthful reality. it is a basic human necessity, not one that everyone has

You can live without close friends and still feel alright, i think? Depends on your mindset. If one don't have, maybe one can make some?

i cannot personally. but human beings in a scientific sense, are social animals. while socailisation is not REQUIRED, it is highly encouraged for optimal mental health

I still have friends, but no gaming friends. Pretty sure the OP is talking about friends to game with.
