American ‘TikTok refugees’ beg China
As the threat of a TikTok ban looms, U.S. TikTok users are flocking to the Chinese social media app Xiaohongshu, making it the top downloaded app in the U.S.

Why are Americans obsessed with Chinese apps? They were on the platform begging the Chinese to accept them.

Should it be illegal to use non-US social media apps?

In general I see no problem that said I would be cautious with Chinese apps
The impact of short form of content is probably more detrimental than the industrial revolution. 😭🙏

They want to know more about great China nation and country itself. I know USA got problems with knowing the world outside, but why block them? It won't help, people are naturally curious.

Besides China is great, I have been there several times. They already live in 22th century unlike west.

Tik Tok people make me sad. Imagine being so addicted to exaggerated lip syncing to Disney songs while wearing costumes. Imagine being the person addicted to watching it. How terrible. The human brain went from being the most power bio computer ever built by nature to being the dumbest one among the animal kingdom.

i am kind of glad i was just too old for tiktok, when it relased. well, i guess it has no age requirements, but it seems mostly kids/teenagers are primary users. i am in my 30s so, it just never appeal to me

Are you telling me that after decades of US tech companies desensitizing people about giving away their personal information people went to a foreign app, giving away their personal information because another foreign app is going to be banned because people were giving their personal information there?

Go figure.

PS: Gotta admit I find the whole situation hilarious.
Hell I know times before youtube/tiktok, etc and we lived just fine without social media

I love Americans finding out the Chinese don't let lgbtq+ and sluts on their platforms.

The "America is bigots" crew finding out we are actually the most accepting country in the world. :lunar2019laughingpig:

Americans are known for opposing EVERYTHING the government tells them and doing bizarre and senseless things that, guess what, requires their government to save them afterwards.

no we dont. one specific group does that and ifs usually the government thanks to those people who caused it to be a problem.

the you could just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ not crowd is growing.

believe it or not we actually didnt have an insurance problem until obama care.

"there where problems hurr durr"
there are always problems. there are people who literally make it a point of their existence to make none problems into problems now. i personally cant think of a single problem we have these days on any issue that doesnt explicitly come back to political problems.

what was it the eu where they have parking lots of x size you need roof coverings with solar panels on top... makes alot of sense in alot of ways. the climate cultist dont even blink at it even though most people would end up supporting it especially in places where they see 90-100f regularly and solar panels make more sense there.

its the same thing with the tiktok ban. the ban itself makes more sense then people want to accept and the only comments against it that can be taken seriously is people make money pushing brain rot... it also comes back to a political issue.
