They will enforce it using ID, credit cards ect by July.

Why shouldn't it be? Some people's entire sex life is pornography are you going to deny them a right to a sex life
It's about control. The uk government literally has a police force dedicated to arresting people that writes mean words.

That's not true. What they did in effect was to say that the internet is a public place. So if you threaten to kill or hurt people then it's just as illegal to say that on the internet as it is to say it to a persons face. The law is primarily aimed at terrorists.

The UK government meant well with the online safety act. They wanted to stop harm coming to children. Porn, grooming, things like that. The problem is that they don't really understand the internet and have not much clue how to go about it. What they have come up with is going to create more trouble that it solves. It not only affects porn, it will also affect platforms like Steam that sells porn games. But the truth is that one small country is not really in a position to unilaterally take on the giants of the internet. It will be interesting to see what happens, but no one apart from the UK government thinks this will go well...:funnycube:

And nothing of value was lost.

Take your sad comment that everyone says.... back to redit..... you are like a bot.

Even sadder still is unironically vouching for gooner sites. :yaranaika:

They want your ID for social media so you cant practice wrong thought without getting fined or jailed.

The old "but think of the childrens" trick.

You are a bot...... no one cares................... lmao...... your opinion is nothing. No one listens to bots.
Can’t you just use a VPN?

Don't access it then.

Very simple.

Mass porn consumption has done untold damage to young people and there are numerous studies that support this.

Just think back in the day as a 90s kid we used to think EuroTrash and Emmanuelle on Channel 4 & 5 was worth staying up for!

Society has changed for the worse and many of you simply will never understand how or why.
Yes i'm fairly aware that the porn industry has been harmful like the tobacco industry was back then (and well nowadays is still very harmful, but the general public is far more aware of it, thankfully). I'm just saying that there's a more smart and future proof way of regulating the porn industry sector.

Going brute force as in full ban only creates a black market, remember the USA govt attempt at banning alcohol? That isn't going to end well.
The idea of ID's to access said sties, just gives hackers an easy profitable target to steal data from, which in turn other criminals can use for other purposes such as identity theft, scams, social engineering to steal data from companies or govts agencies, blackmail, etc.

Not really.

Tobacco use in the UK has plummeted thanks to effectively soft banning the stuff alongside heavy regulation.

I don't know anyone in my age group who smokes and I'm in my mid 30s.
