Is PS4 retro?
You know because it's old?

No.
There's probably some standard people use to define something as 'retro'.

But for me it's any console that no longer has ascess to a store front or internet features. And generally is no longer supported by developers.

The ps4 is still getting releases to this day. And is a valid console for developers to release on.

So no definitely not

PS5 is retro now that the pro is out.

No, the PlayStation 4 (PS4) is not considered retro because it was released in 2013

Well, "retro" is a term that often gets misused. Retro by definition is something new made to look old. Like when you see those brand new microwaves with the 1950's aesthetic. Older consoles would be classic, vintage, some other word, but not retro.

But, even if we those names aside, most people would agree on 20 years, some would say two or three console generations. I consider the PS2 and Gamecube to meet the requirement, but nothing newer.

I've always felt 'retro' was like 8 & 16-bit games. (NES, SNES)

But, then, I always get surprised when favorite music from my teens shows up on "classic rock" stations. ._.

Retro goes until PS2. However, PS3/Xbox 360 might be considered retro already. As are pc games between 2005 and 2009.

But anything below PS2 is retro.

you can still buy brand new Playstation 4 with more games coming for it , there is no way it's already retro.

As far as I know there is no PlayStation 6 as for 11/10/2024 , so not retro at all yet...

When PlayStation 6 comes out, yeah, retro for sure...

However, I do not understand the answer that you have marked... 🤔

I have noticed that a PlayStation 5 Pro exists, but is not an entire new console to call the PlayStation 4 "retro" yet... As far as I know, the PlayStation 5 is just the same console but (I guess?) with a little improvement over the no pro version... Not something big...

Is like calling the Nintendo Switch "retro" becuase there is another one with OLED screen... 🤷‍♀️

PlayStation is not my expertise but I never saw anyone considering the pro as a new console, but rather a new variant (kinda like regional forms on Pokemon v:)
Please dont say stuff like that, they will remaster the last of us 2 and gow ragnarok because of you.
My ps4 was bought refurbished almost 8 years ago and it hasn't broke. I need to have rhey system break on me to even begin to consider if something is retro.
