Well looks like assassin's creed valhalla and Far Cry 6 well be my last Ubisoft purchases if this happens

Subscriptions for games Is even worst then buying digital, that kind of service is alsmost always on a rotating list and the games that are no longer played just become unavailable on a regular basis.

At least when you buy a digital download like steam you can still access the games you paid for for as long as steam exists.

I hate spotify and prime music and still buy music on bandcamp.

Not that the customer has ever owned Ubisoft games since UPlay became a thing and games were tied to it in order to run. Before that the DRM was Securom or Denuvo or whatever else to keep piracy down.

When UPlay came out as a launcher in its own right and games were tied to it in order to play (making it a DRM), the right to own the games disappeared and it became a right to access the games through an account Ubisoft owned.

So this latest bit of news is very, very old.

For a moment, I though this was a new thread but it's that old one from the start of this year:steamsad:

And all this hate towards ubisoft in regards to 'we not owning our games'... AND ? what is the issue here ? We have never owned our digital games but people are some how upset that ubisoft said this!

Im not defending Ubisoft here, but we all know this, it's just some of us rather live in blissful ignorance and pretend the games we purchase digitally are ours.

If anyone here truly believes they own games on steam, please stand up and be counted. Because I can tell you now, you own nothing on steam, you own nothing on epic, you own nothing on MS, you own nothing period in the digital space.
Think of streaming services where we can watch shows on TV via a subscription. One day those shows will be taken away, and some may never return because they're deemed unsuitable for the next indoctrinated generation. If you have those shows on DVD or some other format then no one can really take them away, and you can at some point move them to another media. I don't think the argument is about owning rights to the content. It's about owning access to the content without it ever being taken away.

Half the people complaining about Ubisoft being this way will still go out and buy the next Assasshole's Creed regardless.
Proof?

AC Shadows is just a Ghost of Tsushima rip-off that has too many controversies with Japan attached to the game.

You have hit the nail on the head.

When I cancelled my sky TV subscriptions many years ago, I lost access to the many movies I purchased including oringal Starwars movies, the Transformers 1986 movie, Highlander and many more. It got me thinking, I have spend quite a bit of money on these movies and now don't have access to any of them unless I re-subscribe with a new contract to sky TV.

So from that moment I decided not to purchase digital movies and will only buy movies on either blu-ray/dvd or some future format. I have no issue with renting movies digitally but I will never purchase films again.

I thought Ubisoft wanted us to get used to paying full price for mediocre games like that Star Wars game they rushed to Steam that's a flop.
